I am heading back to NZ later this month, has anyone seen Ed Sheeran in concert, he is in Christchurch in January, just wondering whether it is worth going? I'm not a big fan of his music, but is it worth seeing?
Lol tickets were a reasonable price £68 each and they better bloody play dignity. Just worked it out, it was 35 years ago I saw them at the old Wembley arena
Is it me has the gigs in Hull been disappointing this year? In 2024 I saw Lightening Seeds, Shed Seven, Paul Weller, The Pretenders, Ocean Colour Scene, Cast Embrace, Lust For Life tribute and The Zutons. In 2023 I saw Space, John Power, Noel Gallagher, Inspiral Carpets, Gaz Coombes, Pete Doherty and Shed Seven acoustic. This year I've only been three gigs in Hull, Space, Ocean Colour Scene and The Cribs. I've nothing else planned as well.
Went to see them at the room....many years ago....great and underrated band...I may have to get tickets for them there
Tried to get Ariana Grande tickets for my daughter on Tuesday. Absolute carnage, bigger demand than Oasis for significantly less tickets. Presale needed a UK phone number to get access, and there were 300,000 in the queue for freshly announced dates with just 5 minutes notice. Will try again in the general sale tomorrow but not holding out hope. Doubly annoying that I actually got through twice and when adding tickets to my basket, AXS kicked me out and accused me of being a bot Event tickets is an industry that seriously needs to be properly regulated, the current system enabling Chinese and Indian scalpers to make ridiculous amounts of profit from fans is as absolute farce.
Agree, the Connexin Live was supposed to be a game changer, it hasn't happened and I'm still seeing tour dates for Leeds, York, Lincoln and missing out Hull.
It’s operated by ASM and they get blown out the water by AMG when it comes to booking acts in this size venue. AMG use their network of venues to offer better rates to the promoter, who will use multiple AMG venues across the country on the same tour at a discount rate. ASM basically have Connexin Live and York Barbican, everything else they have is arena sized so find it hard to work effectively in this space.
My gripe with Connexin Live is the way it’s been built. Great to have big artists there but it’s such a poor layout. Shame the original plans were squashed by the council.
Could this finally be a turning point for ticket sales? Cant believe (and without wanting to turn this political) no prospective UK government has run with this as a policy. It would be such an easy vote winner to clamp down on ticket sales. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpq5nq9gyrvo.amp
Wasn’t sure where to put this, but this is great news I think. Worst case it brings hundreds of people from all over the world into Hull to spend their cash! https://news.hull.gov.uk/19/09/2025/hull-to-host-international-music-convention/
I mentioned on another threat that my brother was a classical musician now based in Germany. If anyone is interested in Classical Music with a twist he is performing with the Rio Piano Trio locally next month. His best friend came from Hornsea, played cello, and ended up in Brazil. They meet up every couple of years and do a mini tour and always find time to perform locally as part of it in Hornsea and also this year in Filey. Inspired by Brazilian music and especially the classical works of Heitor Villa Lobos, the young talented cellist David Chew was appointed principal cellist with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in 1981. In 1994 he founded the Rio Cello festival with the goal to make classical music accessible to as many people as possible. It was at this fantastic annual event in 2006 where I met and first started performing with violinist David Johnson who has had a distinguished career with the Gürzenich orchestra in Cologne. The two Davids grew up together making music in and around Hull before embarking on their individual paths. Several years on we have formed the Rio Piano Trio, and our goal is to share the rich and exciting world of Latin American classical music with audiences outside of Brazil. For more information about when, where, and what we are playing please visit the events page. We hope to see you at one of our concerts! https://www.elizabethmucha.co.uk/events So, if anyone fancies going they are playing Hornsea on Saturday 11th October.
Anyone interested in free/modern jazz get along to Scarboro Spa tomorrow 27th and see Emma Rawicz, outstanding young saxophonist with her band. I've seen her twice now and she really is spectacular.
Got through for Take That tickets in about ten mins earlier, which was quite refreshing.......for the Mrs obviously..... decided not too in the end, i just cant bring myself to pay over 150 quid, which seems to be the norm now, i guess im just not ever attending a concert again. unless its Paul Heaton , who still only charges about 40
