Good Morning. It's Thursday 25th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Has Darlow done enough to keep his place The feel-good factor is back at Elland Road, and Leeds United now have a golden opportunity to build on this momentum with two consecutive home fixtures. While the opposition presents a significant challenge – facing teams currently joint second in the Premier League – the return to familiar surroundings injects a palpable sense of optimism. Manager Daniel Farke’s injury woes are beginning to ease, offering a welcome selection headache in the form of first-choice shot stopper Lucas Perri. His deputy, Karl Darlow, has impressed in his recent outings, conceding only once – a fluke own goal in the dying moments against Fulham. He offered solidity and reassurance against a Wolves side, desperately trying to get back in the game during the second half of Saturday's 3-1 win, standing up to the challenge magnificently. With a seemingly settled starting XI, there's a strong argument for Farke to stick with a winning formula. However, the question lingers: could the experience of Perri, when fit, prove to be the decisive factor in these crucial upcoming clashes? please log in to view this image Statistics favour a draw Leeds United will be looking to continue their formidable home form when they host Bournemouth this weekend, aiming to extend an impressive unbeaten streak of 22 league games at Elland Road. This defensive solidity is a standout feature of recent times, with a remarkable 15 clean sheets, conceding just eight goals. Their current defensive resolve is particularly noteworthy, having kept both Everton and Newcastle quiet in their last two home games However, Bournemouth arrive with their own defensive accolades, showcasing a remarkable ability to limit opposition chances. Statistically, only Newcastle have faced fewer shots in the Premier League this season than the Cherries. What's more, since a 19-shot encounter against Liverpool, Bournemouth have impressively restricted their opponents to no more than six shots in their subsequent four matches. This defensive discipline mirrors that of Chelsea in late 2021, highlighting their capacity to starve attacking sides of clear-cut opportunities. This makes for a fascinating tactical battle, pitting Leeds home advantage and established defensive strength against a far more experienced Bournemouth XI with European aspirations. please log in to view this image
Intriguing battle ahead. Meeting up With a local supporters group Set up In last twelve months. I’ll Try to bring an air of positivity to the group
Morning all, A line in Ells opener stuck out for me. "Could Perri's experience be the deciding factor?" Surely Darlow is the more experienced Prem keeper?
Farke did make a comment a month ago that a clubb of Leeds size doesn't pay 16m for a keeper to leave him on bench
Darlow has done far than enough to get the number 1 slot but Perri was bought as the number 1 so even though its a bit shyte i see Farke putting him straight back in when fit. I watched Bournemouth at weekend against the Toon and their transition in games is lethal so many quick thinking players. Stopping them scoring will be a mega task. But every game is different being back at ER will give us that extra man.
I realy feel for Darlow, by and large been a very dependable keeper when the chips are down, and played a huge part in getting us promoted, but having said that he couldn't wrestle the number one spot from a very poor Meslier till right at the end, so i don't have much hope of him getting the nod over perri when fit. On the plus side when did we have two dependable keepers to choose from? Good afternoon everyone.
Just wanted to say all the best to you Shako, after your heart scare and having those stents fitted, i know what it's like as i had one fitted in 2016, after a heart attack. Sounds like your on the mend and i wish you a full speedy recovery.
Darlow has done enough to keep his place but a £16m keeper on the bench doesn't sound right Replace Darlow for Perri now whilst Darlow hasn't made a mistake and he can be brought back in, wait for that 'Meslier' type display and he might be destroyed for the rest of the season Afternoon all
From Farke, Perri out so Darlow stays between the sticks. Bogle and James should both be fit, willy still out.
Too early to make a judgement on Perri… but if you based your decision on what you’d seen in the PL this season you wouldn’t replace Darlow with Perri. factor in what happened in the league cup and you can make an argument for either. as we know Farke doesn’t like changing his keeper… but if injury dictates a change, how many games out does it take before the replacement keeper is seen as the incumbent? personally I think Perri will return when fit, whenever that is, no matter how well Darlow performs
Pirri will be back between the sticks after the international break. Pirri back training with the team next week but will not walk straight back in until after the break. Pirri I believe is an outstanding keeper and will prove his worth
Doc I saw you mention previously that he was really highly regarded in the game. All I saw was some decent but unspectacular stats from his 1 season in the French league. Not much to go on really. What have you seen/heard that gives you such confidence in him,
