Good Morning. It's Tuesday 23rd September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Bogle set for four week lay off

Daniel Farke remains coy on the full extent of the foot injury sustained by right-back Jaidan Bogle, adopting a wait-and-see approach. The Leeds gaffer confirmed that an opponent's studs made contact with Bogle's foot, causing significant swelling. While he is hopeful the damage isn't severe, he stated it is "too early" to provide a definitive update, with a clearer picture not expected for the next few days as the medical team completes its assessment.

Despite Farke's cautious stance, there is speculation that the 25-year-old could be sidelined for up to four weeks. Such a layoff would keep him out of action until after the October international break, forcing him to miss important upcoming clashes against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur. Bogle's potential absence, however, presents a significant opportunity for James Justin to make his mark.

The £8 million summer signing from Leicester City is a natural replacement at right-back, and his strong defensive capabilities will be a welcome asset. For Justin, it is a prime chance to demonstrate his worth and solidify a place in the starting eleven.

Stach is starting to turn heads

Summer recruit Anton Stach has earned high praise from footballing legend Alan Shearer, securing a coveted spot in the pundit's Team of the Week. The German midfielder was named in an impressive trio alongside Liverpool's Ryan Gravenberch and Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, following a dominant performance against Wolves at the weekend.

Stach, who joined from Hoffenheim in a £20m deal, was instrumental in the crucial victory. His impact was perfectly summarized by Shearer, who stated, “What a way to score your first Premier League goal! An incredible free-kick that put Leeds ahead, and then an excellent assist to make it 3-1 in a big win at Wolves.” While his sublime set-piece goal rightly grabbed the headlines, Stach’s all-around contribution was just as vital.

Beyond his goal and assist for Noah Okafor, the underlying data highlights his command of the midfield. He won five duels, made the joint-most defensive contributions winning five duels, yet averages 2-2 shots per game, more than any other Leeds player.

    Wilder could turn to Bamford

Sheffield United's horrendous start to their Championship campaign has left manager Chris Wilder actively seeking experienced reinforcements, and a surprising name has now emerged on his radar: Patrick Bamford. The 32-year-old striker is currently a free agent, his contract having been paid up until the end of the season, presenting a potentially cost-effective solution for the Blades' attacking woes. However, any move for Bamford would be laden with a fascinating, and at times fiery, history between player and manager.

Their public rivalry first ignited during the nail-biting 2018/19 Championship season. Sheffield United, under Wilder, pipped Leeds to automatic promotion, a triumph Wilder underscored with a memorable, liquor-infused celebratory speech that explicitly namechecked Bamford. The Leeds striker returned the favour with gusto last season. After Leeds finally secured their own long-awaited Premier League place, effectively condemning the Blades to the play-offs, Bamford led jubilant fans outside Elland Road in a less-than-complimentary chant aimed directly at the Sheffield United boss.

Yet, despite these highly publicised exchanges, the animosity proved to be short-lived. Wilder later revealed a mature resolution, confirming that Bamford had personally called him to apologise for the chant, and that both men harboured no hard feelings over the past incidents. This professional reconciliation paves the way for what would be one of the most intriguing transfers of the January window.

Should Wilder opt to bring Bamford to Bramall Lane, his proven Championship pedigree and goalscoring instinct could provide the crucial spark Sheffield United needs to reignite their season, turning a former adversary into a potential saviour during a critical period.

Best of luck to Paddy. Shows why we couldn’t shift him. Available on a free and presumably on moderate wages and that’s the best he can attract. Hopefully there’s a couple of decent seasons still in him

    Morning all

Bogle has been on fire, I’m pleasantly surprised how he’s faired in the PL

Our right side is looking particularly weak with Bogle out too. Hes a great offensive talent and i have non worries about his defensive attributes too.

Good luck Bamford, the move on paper makes sense <ok>

Im hearing Bammers is going to sunny Spain in a free transfer to Getafe. not rainy Sheffield.
Bogle will be a big loss but it gives Justin a look in. just hope it ends the same as the keepers and its a toss up who plays.
Stach is going to be a big players for us hold many keys with his long legs in midfield and set pieces.
It was great to see a headed goal from a cross also at weekend something we havent done for a long time.

Darlow is our 1st choice keeper IM
Bogles injury might be a bad one, ☝️ crossed tho, the wolves player came down heel first and might of broken a bone on his foot.
Could DCL do for us what Van Persie did for Manure, maybe!!!!
I saw some strange ratings at the weekend, our defence rode its luck somewhat, people not picking up runner’s etc, when better teams play us we may get punished heavily like we did against the Arsenal.

Bogle been a great signing which reminded me I once read that if 50 percent of your signings were a success, you were doing well. Was probably someone trying to put a gloss on Ortas failures. But hasn't Farke and the recruitment crew done a great job in that area over last couple of seasons. They've almost all turned out to be quality or have I the rose tinted glasses on as usual

How can Bamford be a free transfer in January Elland?. If his contract is paid up that makes him a free agent and am i wrong in thinking he can join clubs now.

I believe, but could be wrong, that it was Sergeant Wilko himself who said that about transfers.

Of course back then he didn’t have the benefit of all the data, endless. You tube videos etc to assist them. Not to mention players of that era wouldn’t be seen dead wearing those black bras even for data purposes if the existed. Imagine big Jack in one of those while having a ***

Have said this a few times on here over the years but the corruption involved inside FIFA, Eufa, EPL, FA is a joke. Not only is the EPL today voting on a new finance code that EUFA demand that aligns with them, but this bent European organisation just stole £10m from Leeds Utd. Raphinha was odds on favourite for the ballon dor simply because he scored 64 goals, had over 20 assists won a bunch of cups and trophies, yet he only managed to come 5th. There was a time not long ago when favourites were favourites for a reason. Messi, Mbappe, Ronaldo, but some corrupt twot has managed to make a fortune betting on…….. Karen Carney will be PM next
