His brash Aussie charm isn't very hard wearing.
Once things go wrong he gets pretty tetchy.
The Forest owner is a first class balloon head.

I think it's harsh on the Liverpool lad, a red card for taking your shirt off when celebrating a goal.
Granted the players all know the rules.
But isn't football supposed to be about spontaneous joy?

I agree players should be yellow carded if they take off their shirt and reveal a message.
But there was no message here, no politics. only an instant of uncontrolled joy.
In such cases (with no message or other motive) couldn't a player be made to give 2 weeks wages to charity instead?
    Or something similar.
Not a second yellow and a sending off.
All emotions are being sucked out of modern football.

Should be able to discipline refs for cocking things up - served with a 3 match ban with no money - they’d soon stop being swayed by crowds and players :emoticon-0148-yes:

Seriously tho I really don’t get why the need to take their shirts off? Incredibly self indulgent. If I was a player I’d just do a shearer - put your arm up in celebration and then get on with it

Well a lot of them are only youngsters, and they lose themselves in the moment.
If that kind of impulsiveness causes injury - like a hot-headed crazy tackle, then the full force of the rules should come down on them in my view.

    But stripping off your shirt?
    Impulsive? yes.
    Silly? yes.
Likely to catch on in the women's game? No <wah>
Though nearly everyone wears thermals under their shirts these days, even in September <doh>

But not worthy of a second yellow, a sending off and a ban in my opinion.
There are far worse things players do, for often for bad reasons, that don't get so harshly punished.

The players know the rules, there are plenty of other ways of celebrating. He won't do it again.
