I think Edwards is too good a manager to fall into that trap. He'll have watched tonight and the Hull game and he'll set his team up in what he seems the best way to get a result.
They'd take a 0-0 right now I guarantee it. That doesn't do us much good at all. We must turn up on Saturday and play well. Tonight was good but pointless if we don't build on it.
Manning fuming with Downs after threading a lovely pass for him only to watch it bounce off downs feet to the Liverpool defence.
Obviously a shame to lose, but I'm very happy. Our best performance of the season, by some distance, and everyone played well except for Downs (who was awful). Quarshie easily had his best game in a Saints shirt. My MOTM was going to be Wood, who was faultless until he got caught out and didn't push up for the second goal. Just so annoying that McCarthy made the error. As a shot stopper, I'm convinced that he's better than Bazunu. And I was beginning to get quite hopeful that he'd start vs Boro. But you can't be making a basic error like that, and he does have history in that area.
I don’t get why players even want to take their shirt off when they score. In any game at any level I’ve ever played I’ve never even considered it!
Agree, but I thought the movement of the front 3 especially in the first half was excellent, and with Downes looking like he may be getting to grips with things, breaking up play, will help. The lack of movement has been a big issue this season. It also helped with having a couple of beasts at CB with the ball playing Edward’s next to them, and Jalert didn’t get done all night down his wing.
Nope just seen it again and I reckon VAR would have disallowed it. I know it was really close but his forward leg was offside but off course its Liverpool so ITV don't even debate it. It wasn't an obvious "not offside"
