That's about right I'd say. Bit of a surprise with Jacks, but I like him. Hopefully the bowlers are all healthy, that's the key. As it is for Oz mind, Cummins looking like he'll have to be managed through the series.
RIP Dickie Bird, always appeared to be a real gentleman and held in high esteem by anyone who knew him.
RIP Dickie. Superb character and obviously a great umpire. In the days before neutral umpires, the opposition always wanted Dickie standing. God Bless.
It's weird they've been trying to reform County Cricket for the last 30 years - I remember Ian MacLaurin trying to get them all to agree to a 3 conference system, similar to the NHL back in the 90s The problem is that red ball cricket has been pushed to the back of the queue by the 100, T20 and even the one day cup. If cricket really wants a future around the globe they need to ditch 50 over cricket and play T20 and red ball/tests only. Get proper windows in the calendar that allow the best players to play all formats (where applicable) and stop overlapping competitions where you have counties playing a bunch of kids like Man Utd used to in the League Cup. Make the games meaningful and align them with the test summer - let the test players play for their counties in the run up to the test summer. Play the County Championship alongside the test summer, so you have players fit and ready to go should form and fitness dictate a change to the test team. Once the tests are out the way, start the white ball season and if you really, really have to, include the daft 100 in their too. This current schedule is unsustainable
Spot on mate, completely agree. There's only one problem with it from the ECB point of view......money!
