I can't believe we haven't won this iteration of the one-day cup yet, we have been consistently a top team in it and could easily have won it 3 times. Lost 2 finals and had great chance too when lost at home to Kent in a semi-final
Someone always pulls out an heroic innings against us plus we had the ****ty end of the weather. That said we definitely left a few runs out there when we batted.
That said, we are going to be a real force in the game in the next ten years with the amount of young talent coming through.
It's at times like this I wonder why I follow sport... It's a good job I'm not expected to do a public interview like Gubbins, I'd be too busy sulking! If anyone needs me, I'm off to buy a cat so I can kick it. Not really, obvs, before you all call the RSPCA! Anyway, a cat and the Labrador wouldn't be a good mix.
Come on you miserable lot. An amazing cricket match with drama off the scale. Two of Worcester’s big hitters missing yet they prevailed. Congratulations to them.
Looks like the weather is going to play ball all across the country for the final round of CC fixtures, which is a relief. You want the weather to be the same for all teams, good or bad.
Surrey have added an Indian leg-spinner to their squad this week, presumably in expectation (or at least to cater for the possibility) of what sort of pitch we'll have.
10 of the 11 seem pretty nailed on to me. But the final place could go to any of Prest, Organ, Currie, Wheal or Jack. If we've prepared a turning pitch, then go Organ. If we want a new ball bowler to partner Kyle, then go Wheal. If we're happy with a five man attack including Fuller as third seamer, then go Prest. If we'd rather rather cover ourselves with a fourth seamer and a bit of batting, then go Currie. I'm certainly not complaining that we've got two high quality all-round spinners - I think it's great that we have Dawson and Sundar. But it does make picking seamers a bit difficult, because if we pick four of them then invariably one of them will barely bowl, but if we pick three of them then it probably results in Fuller taking on a bigger role than his bowling deserves.
The vote to change to a 12 team/two group D1 has failed. D1 and D2 will remain as they are, which confirms that we're fighting to avoid the second relegation spot this week.
