Agree with the sentiments about THB & Downes being dropped, they seem very damaged from last season. I would argue that THB does seem to be a player that has fight in his nature, but he’s just lacking in confidence too much. If he gets dropped, puts his ego to the side and knuckles down and wins his place back, then i have faith he’ll be as strong as he was for us 2 seasons ago, if not a better player for it. Downes on the other hand… I just think he’s far too one dimensional for the way we want to play now and can’t play on the turn as Still needs him to, which leaves us very thin at CM/CDM and is concerning. Need experience desperately!! (please bring Oriol home!!)
Just seen the embargoed part of the press conference. Welington very close to being available, should be able to be involved against Boro. Flynn Downes undergoing further examinations because the club are concerned about his repeated stomach issues that have been occurring since 2023, linked to E.coli
Which could be why he is playing crap, as he isn’t 100%. We forget these are elite athletes (no I am not taking the piss) and if you are at 95% it shows.
Unlikely, very unlikely I know but not impossible a 3-1 away win for super soaraway Saints. We're six hours ahead a 02:00 KO a bit late for this old fart. I'll catch up on the score when I'm up for an inevitable need for a pee during the night.
They're almost too fit, really. You never see a modern player with an ounce of fat on him, and that isn't necessarily healthy.
There's some knobbly clubs in remote parts of Papua used to provide fresh missionary dinner for the tribe.
Yeah, no Salah, VVD, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Konate... But in come Isak, Wirtz, Frimpong, Robertson and Gomez. Haha I'm not even calling it a B team.
With the pressure off us completely, I actually think we'll play well. We likely won't win, but I think it will be a good game.
Yeah can't help myself. I love football and I love Saints. I know we will likely get tonked, but I'm excited to hopefully see some of our fringe players stake a claim for the first team. I've convinced myself the season will only turn around for us once we start playing Ross Stewart. So if we lose 5-1, but he scores a banging header for our consolation, then that's a 'win' for me.
Yeah the first game for a while in which we won't be coming up against a low block etc. Hopefully see a bit more freedom for our attackers.
Yeah, I can see us putting in a half decent performance tonight, and for the game to be quite exciting.
Who was that utterly **** manager? Got us to Wembley where a truly awful decision cost us dear, then finished in top 10. Luckily we did the right thing and sacked him. Phew. Don’t want that sort of uppity behaviour, thank you. We’re crap and we know we are. No doubt will prove this on Tuesday on live TV. Oh joy[/QUOTE] Although of course we’ll never know what happened but it seems to me that someone on the hierarchy ( and of course some entitled fans) didn’t like the style of play. What we had was a pragmatic manager who turned out a TEAM that knew what was needed and did the job. Had Puel been able to build and attract better players ( cos success does that!!) we might have had a very different outcome. Ancient history now though.
Oddly players are human! Maybe impending fatherhood ( or fear of the father in law ) is playing on his mind.
