<peacedove>This is a game I think our reserve team will play flanged by some first team players ,Honestly, I cannot predict the line up. Also, Liverpool wants to continue the momentum of not losing. Going to be a disaster losing in the third round of the league cup at home to Southampton.
Referee is yet to be appointed for this game,
    Game: Carabao Cup third round
    Date: Tuesday 23rd September 2025
    Stadium: Anfield.
    Time: 20:00
    TV: Sky Sports 1.

Players who surely must start (there are no kids anywhere near their positions)

    Marmadashvilli
    Frimpong
    Gomez
    Robertson
    Endo (bajcetic is not ready)
    Jones
Chiesa (where was he last weekend?)

    This for me then leaves
    Nyoni (small hope)
    Danns (small hope)
    Ngumoha (locked in imo)
    Leoni (locked in imo)

However I expect isak to start not danns and danns.might hope for 30mins if lucky.

Nyoni should start but I still have this thought slot will go start wirtz to keep him improving.

This is the classuc game made for the 4 boys, one of which is a massive buy and 2 who are cheaper buys but still buys.

Danns joined the club at 8.

Of all the other youths at the club who are not signings (Ayman, wright etc) theres nobody imo very close to anything.

The u21s play man utd today at 2pm. That team will likely tell us a lot aboit who might even make this bench

Yeah Isak is probably starting this one - he'll play a part at least to get some minutes in without much consequence.

You'd like it to be danns thst comes.on on 60 after a isal hat trick.

    For the record

    Chambers not fit
Bajcetic back in training but not fit
    Morrison. Nowhere near
Kone Doherty. Doubtful he'd be involved.
    Nallo nowhere near good enough
    Lucky. Nowhere near.
    Wright injured
    Sonni lambie- latest name
Ayman - expensive but nowhere near.

Back 5 picks itself; those who didn’t start this weekend.

Chiesa Isak Rio seems kind of obvious

midfield is tougher and much weaker imo; Jones, Endo (not sure if one of the kids is ready/fit for a start in midfield……and Wirtz as 10

Maca didn’t play in Europe so I suspect he’ll get the nod to sit on the bench if needed.

The players who played 3 in 6 days should be resting. There’s still enough quality in the team to do this, though I doubt it will be pretty.

I’m looking forward to seeing Leoni and Rio play 90.

    Yeah.

Its not like Southampton have had a good start here.

The biggest issue for me is always the loss off vvd means zero set piece threat.

Leoni is a lump. Let’s hope he’s been taking note. Then Isak….after that it’s a team of little uns.

He's tall. We dont know if he is a lump like maguire or a majestic lion like vvd.

Some tall players are very poor at attacking a ball. Knoate isn't great tbh.

Hopefully he is a handful anyway.

But when you are disjointed seeing rhys williams and Joe gomez as the options. Not good.

Hopefully they will look like they've at least met each other in this game.

Gomez looked fine last time he played. Leoni has been mooted as the future of Italys defence. I think he’ll be ok at that level. We gotta trust what we have - they’ll be fine.

The main thing about our style of play is cbs passing.

You have to move the ball and pyu have to be willing to do more than a sideways 10 yarder.

If gomez and Leoni are willing to move it to the opposite full back or go forward we will be OK.

If they are inhibited and just side shuffle it'll kill all momentum

Endo is hardly going to do a gravenberch so we need someone making that body and being that option.

After that I really hope chiesa shows something. He looked fit Friday so wasnt even in the squad (not all can be)

I hope ngumoha really shows something.

I really hope nyoni gets a game.

Tbf leave cup is one of those that play the kids reserves and if go out, so be it. But if get through to quarters and semis then great try and win it.

Reserves should be thinking a good game here puts you in the frame for more minutes plus guarantees more game
    time in future rounds

Its an opportunity to put a hand up amd an opportunity for the manager to sort the chaff.

I'm convinced endo would be gone if slot could get him gone

Chiesa stayed doing them a favour nearly on the last day then gets the bullet in the cl. His attitude will tell a lot. He turned Italy down to get fitter too.

    Gomez is gomez.

    Robertson is Robertson

We are at the point nearly that we are looking at the slot squad.

    Gks
    Rbs
Cb?? Im sure he'd have wanted guehi in and konate to leave
    Lb. In progress
    6. In progress.
    8s. Done.
    10. done.
    9. Done.
Lw? Gakpo is played, ngumoha seems favoured.
Rw? Stop gap. A future project.

I'm sure another midfielder and then he will be back onto the winger situation.

Slot to no one’s surprise confirms team will be rotated tomorrow, mamadashvillo set to get first appearance alongside Leoni abd possibly more game time for Isak.

Dreadful draw this was for us. A ground we've played at every season since 12/13 and a tie we've no chance of winning.

Loads of tickets left in away end as well given it's come in a two week period which also has trips to Hull, Sheffield and Derby.

We've gone pretty strong in the first two rounds so expect us to again but your kids will have too much for us anyway.

If Isak plays then the tie will likely be over by the 20-25 minute mark. If he doesn't then I reckon it'll be similar to the recent FA Cup game where we competed well for an hour but still conceded 3 second half goals and lost comfortably.

Can see Isak getting another 45-60 minutes to build up his fitness.

Given the game you have at weekend, seems odd if you’d go full strength?

Oh no, no kids for you mate.

We just stuck them on a bench to rotate now.

You'll get the full might of our bang average reserves and you'll like it.

It won't be 'full strength' as a couple who need minutes will get them but it won't be loads of changes cos we didn't do that in either previous round.

Arguably Still doesn't know his best team yet anyway so hard to know what full strength is.

That's a shame. Don't anticipate us being competitive at all then.
