Fun fact: Last season our 2 top assisters were Kamara and Mehlem with 3 each. This season, Giles and McBurnie currently have 3 each.
I saw 2 wins in 19 last season.....already equalled that by sept 20! Like night and day, and no surprise that with results and more shots the atmosphere has improved hugely too
I'd been pondering this stat on the way home, 3 assists already is cracking for a full back, hadn't linked it back to last season, it's almost ridiculous how **** we were isn't it. All comes down to recruitment, of players and manager, been a lot of mistakes in this area under Acun and whilst time may tell differently we don't look to have made any shocking decisions on either front this season, I do perversely think the fee ban has helped and another window of not being able to spend may be a good thing long term too
Assisting is probably much easier with a striker that can win the ball in the area, to be fair. Pedro had a few class moments, but realistically they were one every 4 games
Jakirović has also won more home games than Walter already and is halfway there to winning as many home games as Sellés.
Cheers for this mate, boulevard was perfect for getting away whilst still being close enough to the ground. Just a shame that after the game I took the footbridge towards the city centre and extended my walk in the rain We were ****ing awful but credit to you lot you set up perfectly and were fully deserved winners, arguably should have been by more. Good luck for the rest of the season except the obvious. The A63 heading west is rather treacherous in such heavy rain. Doesn't help when thick ****s don't put their lights on.
Pedro would have had more class moments if he wasn’t wasting all his energy chasing and challenging for hopeless long balls he had absolutely no chance of ever winning.
Pedro just wasn't capable of playing in a league with this intensity any more. We saw in glimpses how good he was in his prime but he was miles off it. He was actually pretty similar to Billy Sharp just on a lot more money.
What a cracking performance, even though Southampton had the lions share of possession, they did very little with it. As one or two others have said, Southampton played very much the same as we did in the last 2 seasons, just pass, pass, pass mostly sideways. All 3 goals were works of art, particularly the 2nd, that gives you goosebumps watching it back. Some wonderful performances, McBurnie, Joseph, Amir (particularly in the first half), Coyle, Lundstrom, Giles, as well as the 2 centre backs. The only downer was Belloumi's injury, let's hope it is not too server, and he is back quickly. There is a lot to like about this team, and it looks as if final we have the manager who suits Acun vision, and also makes games so much more enjoyable to watch. I think we can look ahead with some optimism.
Because you slag off a player before the game started. Turns out he has a superb game, justifies his selection. Makes you look a right silly ****. I don’t like swearing, but seems apt on this occasion. Reason enough?
Great result, even better to win having been up against it for large spells without the ball but dug in and stuck to the plan. Hope Drameh still gets his chances this year, although Coyle was excellent yesterday. Destan looked decent in his cameo, good touch and looks a presence with his back to goal. Joseph got his reward for his hard work, and I understand the benefit of him in the team, especially as he can tuck in and allow Giles more space to get high and wide, but I still think Ndala or Millar (when fully fit) will be our best options on that side. we’ve shown different things in games already this season, Oxford we dominated, Wrexham we looked like Real Madrid at times despite losing, we’ve been defensively solid against cov and Southampton, hope as the team settles more and a few of the new lads find their feet, we can start to string some wins together. Can’t help but love Sergej
