No, no, mate. We shall leave the thread right here, to act as reminder to all of us to keep the faith and trust in the process.
"We never score from corners, we never score from corners.........oh hang on.....we always score from corners"
Leave the thread.. One game isn't enough to invalidate the claim. Not every side is going to put their smallest player on android 16.
We must be the worst side I ever seen in my life at set pieces... Like this is the thing even **** teams can do reasonably well.
Not only that but the other team are more likely to score on the counter attack, Leeds did it in the first half. I'm really surprised Howe has let it go on so long tbh.
How pro footballers can consistently not get the ball above head height from a corner is something i will never ever understand.
Well if I was a manager and this was constantly happening then I would put Schar or Burn at the front post to flick it on. The amount of **** corners that either hit the first man of defence or drifted into the GK hands was ****ing annoying me yesterday.
Howe is the type of guy that has used the same marmalade for his entire life. Trippier is never going to be off corners mate as long as he's in the side.
Newcastle are the worst side I've ever seen from corners and free kicks... It's been like this for years, but nobody can accept Howes numerous downfalls. It's not about blind faith or Howe out either, but somethings are in desperate need of addressing and this subject is a major undeniable one.
Hopefully he will soon realise that Tripps shouldn't be the set piece taker. It's OK having great ideas, but nit if you can't execute them. This media love-in that Tripps is a danger from set pieces annoys me. He scored one free-kick about 3 years ago. Get over it. It was the same with Shelvey.
Those attempts last night at short corners were woeful. Gordon slammed it back to Tripps but on his wrong foot, so he didn't know what to do with it. Looked like a rabbit in headlights. Complete waste.
Yeah corners/set pieces are super frustrating at the moment. We've had 4 outfield players over 6'3 on the pitch last night at the end in Botman, Thiaw, Burn, Woltemade - against a team we should be winning headers against but I don't think they won a header between them from a set piece. Shouldn't be that hard to find 6'7 Burn at the front post for a flick on or whatever but they all seem so static when the ball is coming in. Need to start them deep and run at the ball - not jostling in the 6 yard box and jumping from standing starts.
It's about the quality of the delivery. As you say, no excuse not to find one of those 4 big lads. Some guys on a local park on a Sunday morning whip in better corners that some of these pros who earn millions. I just don't get it. They practice this all the time yet can't beat the first defender, unless they literally lob it up and then it's for the keeper to win. Does my head in. Rant over.
