Just seen on SSN ticker that Sterling has just signed a pro contract with Liverpool. I know this won't be a popular view but hope it all goes wrong and he ends up on the scrap-heap. Absolutely no loyalty shown to us and Liverpool just robbed us as well, hopefully a match made in hell
Bit mean spirited, especially since it's Christmas! To be fair to the player, Rangers were in utter turmoil when he left, so probably was the right decision in the end. Shame to have lost him, but can't say I feel so passionate/annoyed about it really.
Yeah maybe a bit strong I suppose, Just annoys me when a club like ours loses such a fantastic talent. Good luck I spose.... Raheem
We should have written a clause into the sale just like Spurs did with Taarabt; we get a bundle of money if they sell him or give him a pro-contract, etc.
I'm pretty sure we have. Think Joe Gallen mentioned something along those lines on the Open All R's podcast.
I think you have to try and put yourself in his shoes. Difficult to imagine, I know, but if I was a youngster with the footballing world at my feet, I suspect that I might well be tempted by the overtures of a top Premier League club irrespective of what team I supported myself (or was affiliated to). When he signed for Liverpool, we were a struggling CCC side, weren't we? And he had the opportunity to rub shoulders with Gerrard & Co. on a weekly basis. Seriously, don't you think you'd have been tempted? To hope that he ends up on the scrapheap is pretty uncharitable.
I'd like to see him come back on loan. Scored a bag full for their reserves and would have a debt to us, which he can pay back in goals!
It's just the way the game is these days. Anyone remember Dean Parret?? our next big thing untill he jumped ship to Spurs??
It's unlikely we will get anything as he was a youth player and as such unable to be under contract which is why liverpool could just walk in and take him.
Sterling also went to Liverpool as Dalglish was his hero. at the end of the day, if Sterling needed to go out on loan, and we were interested wouldn't it be good to see him play back at the team that gave him is first opportunity
If I recall, I seem to remember Liverpool actually got praise for conducting themselves well when other less scruplious prem clubs would have snatched him for less than whatever we got. Good luck to him, its the scout who found him first and our coaches who brought him on i feel for.
You have to be careful whay you say about the situation. If we manage to stay in the Prem and keep moving forward we might (and probably will) do the same with young talent from the lower leagues. That is the way the system works.
