The UK is already supporting fascism. It aligns itself with the USA, it supports genocide by Israel. The same thing happens with all crumbling empires. Degeneration into authoritarian government, demonisation of all things foreign, and attempts at hanging on to that which no longer exists. Unite the Union? The Union no longer exists and it will split into its constituent parts. The only question now is when this will happen.

Indeed. I might suggest that one (minor) difference, is that back then, the Draconian Sus laws, although totally OTT, were actioned by Police who at least knew they were overstepping the mark. The current examples suggest Officers (from PC's to CC's) do not actually know the law. Because there does actually have to be a confirmed and isolated link between the Proscribed Org and the actions of the individual. Merely supporting an overarching cause is totally insufficient. I'm hoping I am right, and that they are acting in ignorance, or else if this is a deliberate and mandated overreach of the State then the UK is in a far bigger mess than I first thought.
