He made some great films. Butch Cassidy & the Sundane Kid was an excellent film with some witty lines and the freeze frame ending. RIP Robert
Very sad news. A couple of years ago, I was watching an episode of (the original) Perry Mason and there to my surprise was a young Robert Redford. Apparently, it was his first speaking role on TV: it was an episode from 1960 when he was 23 RIP
Broadcaster John Stapleton, who had Parkinson’s disease complicated by pneumonia, has died aged 79. RIP
Dickie Bird was an opening batsman for Yorkshire. Due to the large number of openers on their books, he couldn't nail down an opening slot. He got a chance, when regular opener Ken Taylor was on England duty. He scored a huge 181 not out, his only ever century, but was dropped for the next game when Taylor returned. The opposition at Bradford on that day in 1959 was - Glamorgan. Well, it would be He never opened again for Yorkshire. One of cricket's great characters. RIP.
