When Sheffield United beat us back in November ‘24, it was disappointing but I was very proud and excited by the team KLD, Speakman and Harvey put together and RLB was doing a great job with. Sheffield’s premier league nous was a bit too much for us that night but you could see the talent bristling in our side. Fast forward a year with the same players and I was confident we’d be better than them. It took only 6 months for the prediction to come true. The hierarchy and staff have had a lot of deserved praise since then for the PL upgrade on steroids and I’d like to thank them again for the unreal transformation of our club.

    “Football is a crazy game.

Only in May, Sunderland and Sheffield United battled it out in the play-off final with the winner receiving £200m and a place at the top table of the Premier League. And the change since Sunderland bagged the last minute winner at Wembley has been monumental.

Regis Le Bris’ Black Cats have gone from strength to strength. Flexed their muscles in the transfer market. Brushed aside West Ham and Brentford at home. Comfortably sitting 7th in the Premier League after four games. The future couldn’t look more prosperous and it’s an extremely exciting time to be a fan at the Stadium of Light.

Sheffield United on the other hand were only minutes away from extra-time v their now top-flight opposition. Since then, the fall-off has been remarkable. Hometown hero Chris Wilder was relieved of his duties afterwards and replaced by the unproven Ruben Selles. Selles then lost all five games, has been given the sack and Wilder is in talks to return to Bramall Lane for a third spell.

The chain of events from Tommy Watson’s goal is genuinely insane”

At times it makes you rub your eyes and check to make sure you are awake.
I remember when all the rumours of a takeover were circling after the yanks pulled the plug. I got a message of a friend who does not really follow football (he lives on the south coast) and all he said in the message was big things are gonna happen for your club, get ready for the ride.
2 weeks later and KLD was pretty much in charge. The club has gone from strength to strength under his ownership, mistakes have been made and apologised for. Fans have been made to feel a bit more included and the club seems right on track with engaging in the history and culture of the region.
The same guy was the one who told about major investment and sponsorship deals when and if KLD was successful, not heard much on this yet, but truthfully this club is starting to leave me speechless at times and long may it continue to do so.
