Must have watched a different game to some. Thought we were by far the batter team for the first half of the second half (if you get my meaning) then Palace stepped up and were by far the better side for the remainder of the remainder. They weren’t all over us fir most of the game as a lot of outlets are making out.
Palace were better when we, quite appropriately, decided to protect the pint with 10-15 left. 5 of their shots on target came in this window. We aren’t scared to defend, and why would we be with the calibre of player we have back there now.
Troy’s thought process: Roefs: A number of top saves, some great commanding of the box and great distribution. Plays fir Sunderland and I’ve already got their centre half in Donnarumma: one top save against a very poor side. Plays for Man City Yeah give it to Donnarumma I reckon most keepers keeping a clean sheet at the weekend found it harder than Donnarumma did!!

FAMILIAR FACE "I knew him already before because he was playing in Germany also, and we were on the national team together, so I know him, I know how he plays.” KNOW HIS GAME “I didn't see every game from Palace from before, but I just saw some games, and I knew which type of player he is, what he likes and what he doesn't like. So, yeah, I think I did a good job because he didn't score. It helped knowing a little bit about his movement. And everyone knows that he's a good striker, and, yeah, today I just saw that I'm also a good defender.” HARD FOUGHT POINT “Yeah, exactly. That's very important. It's very important to get a clean sheet. We know goal difference is very important, and also for the confidence of the team and for the defenders and the goalkeeper. When you don't get any goals, this type of game, where it's really hard, your confidence goes high, and this is exactly what we want." NEED TO CREATE MORE “But we just have to keep working and training every day to keep a clean sheet. But we also need to score because it's also really important. But, yeah, I trust the offensive players because they are really good. im against inviting the onslaught but im not the manager as you say it was arguably appropriate we played 80% of the game and were close to great point that could be so important come May. Playing the odds and focusing on getting that point is the practical thing to do.
Agree,but my worry is we need to have something to defend. As both Burnley and Leeds found out, the teams in this league will find a way. We got away with it at Palace,we defended really well in the last 10 mins or so,but Roefs had to make some brilliant stops to enable us to take the point and to avoid being the third promoted club on the day to lose by a single last minute goal. We need to score goals to survive. I'm very optimistic with this team,I think we have some real quality all over the pitch.....and I agree,we have added some quality defending. But, we have to create chances and take them when they're presented.....imo,that's the key to our future.If we're nil-nil going into the last 10 minutes,and subbing more defensive minded players on to try to safeguard the point,I'll be very worried...... certain we'll be looking at a late goal against us.
Thought the 1st half was anybody's game. Wasn't drab as some news outlets said, but 2 teams who were happy to sit back and counter. I expected palace to push more, as the home team. Thought we were better majority of the second half, then thought we ran out of steam a bit and defended the point. That's when Roefs was called to make some great saves. We missed la fee, his creativity would have been great to have even as a sub Solid performance from everyone, Roefs being excellent Well deserved point. At some points in the game I thought we could snatch all 3 A week of training and rest this week and 3 more points we'll within our grasp this weekend
If the majority of our away games for the rest of the season are described as 'drab' I'll probably be happy with the number of away points we end up with.
Looking back, I thought Talbi could've been brought off and maybe Traore on. Talbi looked absolutely knackered going into the final 20 mins
Looking forward, I'm actually nowhere as concerned as I was at the start of the season for these upcoming fixtures. Villa seem to be in turmoil and I think we can turn them over in the home fixture. Forest are also going through fairly drastic tactical changes as they try to adapt to Angeball and they play Real Betis away on the Wednesday so cannot afford to overly weaken themselves there. Man U are obviously ****e even if they are better at home. I'm going to go mental and predict 9 points from 9. Mostly as I think Villa are poor, Ange is not suited to Forest at all and Amorim is not suited to the prem at all. We go top of the league at the international break and RLB wins MOTM. I thought that but then i noticed how good of a job he was doing helping track back and defending so i think thats the reason why we didnt want to risk exposing ourselves whilst we were on the back foot with not much time to go
NORDI: ANYTHING FOR THE TEAM Following another standout performance against Crystal Palace at the back alongside the rest of the defence and Robin Roefs in goal, Nordi Mukiele discussed our strong start to the season and shared his views on our long throws and how he can help the side out in several areas. Whilst trying to help out however he can, whether it be as a full back, centre back or even launching a long throw into the box, he says he's just happy to help out wherever he can like a true team player. ROOOOOEFS “The goalkeeper is really chill, I would say, but also confident. You know, when you have a goalkeeper like this, you just want to defend with all your body, that you don't concede any goal, and he showed that already since he's here, and today he showed it again. He's a very good goalkeeper, and when you have him behind you, you just want to do everything. He has nothing to do in the game, but if he has to do something like he did today, and he did it well, so we are really happy.” LONG THROW IN “You know, it's also another weapon for me to help the team with these kinds of things, not only to defend. I'm usually playing right back, so I do it a lot of the time these kinds of things, and nobody knew it, so now they know but I think I do it well and I just hope that one game or one day we're going to score with this." HAPPY TO HELP IN ANY WAY “In training, I did only one and they saw it, and after we just said that we can do it even if I play centre-back. But yeah, it's a good weapon for our team, something different, and I just hope that one day we're going to score with this. It’s just something that I hope is going to help the team. This is the only thing I want.” TEAM PLAYER “If I have to play centre-back, I will play centre-back, and I will do my job. If I have to play right back or left back, I will also do my job.
