Only a small chips, just got the munchies ha.
And everyone loves ice cream ha. I'll let it go down nicely before sleeping. I have nothing to do tomorrow so I can cook myself up a healthier lunch to compensate.

Let's not get carried away. I'm glad he's had his chance and proved a few people wrong but he has far from proved himself in the prem.
I hope he does but scoring a few goals against (lets face it) poor teams does not make him prem class. If he continues this season and next then fair play. Imo he's not the answer to our striking problems.

Best current striker we have. I rate him a lot. He showed yesterday how good he can play on the deck(much better than ''no technique'' Ameobi), excellent work-rate, decent pace and is looking impressive in every game he's played(except for Stevenage). If he continues his consistency and improves aspects of his game(staying onside, finishing ability and to be in the right place at the right time) then he could potentially be our regular striker next season(along with of course a ''new'' quality striker).

Don't think everyone's saying Best is now most definitely a proven prem goalscorer and the answer to all Pardew's striker related prayers, and we now have no need to buy in the summer, just that he's found a bit of form and performing far past people's expectations.
He's a decent player, and still relatively young lets not forget. With some decent deliveries Best gets some good chances to put a few away.
I still stand by what I said (possibly on this thread...maybe on another..) that an acquisition of Sturridge and I'd be kinda pleased with a partnership of Best and Sturridge up front next season. I don't see why not. I doubt we'll be spending anywhere near 35 million, but splurge a little bit on class like Sturridge and we could be fine.
Of course if we could get another decent striker in too then that's fine, it's just if. Best shouldn't be first choice next season, we DO need more options obviously. But he's the best we've got at the minute and the best we've got all season so lets get behind the lad.

How much do you think it'd cost to prize Holden away in the summer? Not sure I'd want to flash cash on both Ireland and Holden in the summer.
Not doubting he's a good player though, obviously, I'd be more than pleased with him.

I never really had an opinion on Best as you say he hadnt really been given a chance. but he starting to prove alot of people wrong, I thought while watching the match yesterday I would take note of the other side of his game (bar scoring goals) and I was impressed, fair enough he gets caught offside a few times but his workrate closing players down is impressive and is foot work isnt to bad either, a couple of times he had the ball at his feet and managed to evade a few players to get a shot off, always seemed to have about 3 players in front of him though. As you all say we need another stiker in the summer but if he keeps up his current form theres no reason we cant look for someone to compliment him next season.

Were we expected to be optimistic about a player who failed to score for us in the CCC, and had next to no appearances in the PL? You even said youself you thought he probably wasnt up to it.

Yes I said this and still think this but I still said he needed a chance before everyone should pass his final judgement and call for his sale. I'd keep him, if he wants to stay and like I said I wouldn't be suprised to see him continue playing a fair amount of first-team games next season, especially if he continues like this.

The problem with many, if not most Newcastle fans, is they don't give anyone a chance if they play mediocre in their first few games. Perch for example was hopeless in his first spell in the first-team but I wouldn't be suprised to see him play a good part in our first-team next year, he played a few good games this season, out of position in some and looked good. Have faith in our coaches, Best and Perch have ability, it just needs nurturing correctly. Our coaches are good and can do this.

We, as club, are not buying finished articles anymore, the days of spending £15m + £17 on the best English striker are gone, (whilst Ashley is here anyway). We are looking to create the finished articles (or as close to). As soon as the fans understand this, the better.

Look at Nani and Park Ji Sung at Manure, Van Persie at Arsenal. They all got slated by fans, now look at them!
