Have you heard the interview he done on underthecosh about when he signed for us?

He got arrested on a night out the night before his first training session and he left the cells the next morning and came straight to training

If this doesn't sum up the difference in player personalities and professionalism!

How many absolute waster piss heads or just not the right personality to give it their all did we have before the KLD and Speakaman era? **** me some of them were Moyes last throw of the dice to try and keep us up! That pisshead waste of space Gibson!

I've probably said this before but I'm actually amazed at how we're bringing in so many foreign lads, some very young, and assimilating them into the area as well as the squad ...

... as far as we're aware none are causing us any bother.

I love the NE but I'm sure some of these new signings had to 'Google Map' Sunderland.

Scouting players, persuading them to come and steering them away from the 'easy option' must take some skill.

You can bet that most wives and girlfriends would see a move to England as a move to London.
    (No offence ladies on here.)

What's happening is a real testimony to KLD and the people he's brought in imo.

100%. We're an entirely different club under this regime, that's clear. I do think, however, that some very young lads have struggled to settle here. It's always difficult to know whether it's a case of their abilities not matching up to our expectations, especially as we've moved up the leagues, or the culture, language and lifestyle difficulties they have experienced. I'm thinking of Jewi,Ba,Rusyn,Hemir,Pembele and so on. No matter how much due diligence we do,it's always a risk picking a young man up from somewhere and immersing him in a totally strange environment.....and I don't think we get it right all the time. Now,whether it would be any easier if we were a London club, is open to debate. I do think that having someone like Xhaka, alongside someone like O9,in the dressing room, does help massively..

I've had a few jobs where I’ve ’done due diligence’, second/third interviews, researched the people, spoken to other members of staff etc …

… then turned up, thought WTF and walked before the week was up.

Overnight was the quickest, working in St Tropez for J C Decaux, dream job, horrible man.

JCD hailed from Beauvais. I was asked to go to Paris on business in spring 1973...before the Wembley final. I thought I was going to CDG,I was barely 20,but,no,it was Beauvais.....took an age to get into the city centre....and an age to get back again later that week. I was sweating, and I'll never forgive him! <laugh>

Did some work for him myself as a contractor back in the late 90’s.
Brighton based contractor ended up stumping up the bill for me to finish my work.
I’ve got nothing positive to say about him as a man so will leave it there.

    BROWNE AIRS FRUSTRATIONS

Alan Browne has admitted that while he understands Sunderland's summer overhaul, he was disappointed that he wouldn't get the chance to prove himself in the Premier League after playing his part in taking us to the top flight...

    DISAPPOINTING?
"Yeah, of course. I think a lot of people probably are from last year. We're the players who got the club there and you'd like to think you'd be rewarded with a fair chance the following season. I'm disappointed but I completely understand the club's outlook."

    LEVELLED UP THE SQUAD
"They want to stay in the Premier League, progress and get as high up the table as they can. They've made the choice to spend that money and bring in players who they think are capable of doing that and they didn't think most of the previous players were."

    FOREST MODEL
"It could be a fair assessment because you see it so often where teams go up and come down and go back up and become a yo-yo team. They obviously don't want to do that. I think they've probably looked at Nottingham Forest from a few years ago and tried to replicate that."

    ALWAYS NEXT YEAR
"Hopefully it works out. I'm not going to talk bad about them. I'm disappointed, which is fair, but hopefully I'll get another chance next season."

    BORO MOVE
"It was quite sudden. I had interest elsewhere and I was inclined to go there, but the night before the window closed the gaffer rang me up and said they were interested. It ticked a lot of boxes and I think I can help the team as well as they can help me. It made sense to come here. They've made a great start, hopefully we can continue that. I did say if Middlesbrough came in it would be the ideal scenario to keep my family who are settled in the area around. In that regard it was brilliant, but also as a club, it's a massive club and I want to get a massive club back where they belong."
