Don't go to Butler Whites on Humber Street.....closed for the foreseeable future. Don't suppose the council deciding to dig up that side of the Marina all summer long has helped.
Although cannot say I am surprised. The last three times I have been it was dreadful with very slow service, and the very last time we went we were the only table in there, and the service was still slow.

The Star at Sancton. Haven’t eaten anywhere better locally for quite a while. It’s better than Pipe & Glass in my opinion.

Last time I went it was bang average and that’s being generous.

Steak was very disappointing and the menu was well…… meh.

Ordered a pricey bottle of wine and the waitress shoved it under my nose and asked’ did you order that?’ when I confirmed I had she plonked it on the table and ****ed off.

    Service was extremely amateurish.

    I won’t be rushing back.

Been there dozens of times. I’ve never experienced anything remotely close to what you have described.

I don't rate Ambiente at all, been twice and the food was poor both times, the other two are good though (Tapasya is the same guy that owns Ruthvika Spice).

I went to the Ambiente in York a couple of years ago and I discovered, after munching into it,that one of my tapas(some sort of chicken skewer) was undercooked, almost raw on the inside...

Complained immediately and got a response along the lines that all their meats are temperature probed and it wasn't undercooked(even though it was still clucking on the plate),they more or less reluctantly took it off the bill and ultimately gained no tip.

Rest of the food was 'decent' enough(nothing standout) but customer service wise, atrocious, and wouldn't use them again due to that.

Hearth was great when I took Mrs Sobchak there.

The Hope and Anchor in South Ferriby is great, if a bit of an odd setting.

Maybe not fancy enough for you, just throwing out as been to these recently.

The Wellington Inn - Lund. Food is excellent.

    And a random one....

The Greek - Hessle. Went the other night, as awesome as always. Portions are ridiculously big for the price.

Hearth has been A1 top notch every time we have been. Would definitely recommend (the taster menu is worth a look).
We only heard about it when we randomly met the head chef's parents on a train journey to Bath.
