A new series of Mrs Browns Boys just started, who the **** watches that **** to get paid by my licence money? First series was fresh then went downhill at the speed of light, it is so ****e.
Ye, she wasn't the worst of it - that prize went to the dialogue, which reminded me of when you have to watch your kid's drama play at school where one of their friends has written the script and it's uncomfortably ****. I've watched more TV than ever before, this year, because the newish missus watches to relax and we're not at the stage where I can point blank refuse without it being taken personally. I think I've seen about five series recently where there's a white attractive female politician/diplomat with brown hair, with a husband of colour who gets kidnapped, under attack from the far right intent on destabilising the country, whilst she has to earnestly walk the tightrope between protecting her family and running the nation. They've all blended into one. To balance out the negativity, I've enjoyed Ludwig, Top Boy, Adolescence, line of Duty, Chernobyl and Happy Valley.
Enjoyed Ludwig. Of course Line Of Duty was excellent as was Happy Valley. Been rewatching the early series of Law And Order with the late, great Jerry Orbach as Lenny Briscoe.
Fortunately for me I am at the stage where I can walk out the room saying this is the worstest script wot anyone has ever writ and the Missus will not turn a hair - she just thought Ernie's off on one again. I went to bed and watched the Stiff records documentary recommended elsewhere on this site. Only Stiff thing in the bedroom last night and no mistake. Hostage? Worst. Dialogue. Ever.
That literally says everything… “ She loved it, I hated it “ the absolute utter ****e what the youth of today watch it’s mind boggling or mind deterioration one of the other. It’s as if programmers are terrified of not including every ****er and saying something that may upset one or two wallflowers…. It’s an age thing, under 40 and your skin is like tissue paper…40 and over it’s like granite lol
I thought Hostage was an ok thing for whiling away a boring Tuesday night. Now, if you want to see some real, absolute crap watch The Thursday Murder Club, Netflix. Sets new levels of crapness. Pierce Brosnan as an East end ex TUC leader, give me strength!
Missed that recommendation (Stiff records doc) What streaming service is that on? (or which one did you steal it from?!)
Shown on BBC4 around 20 years ago. Now available on YouTube. If time is a concept with which we measure our age - as Bob Geldof once sang - look out for Nick Lowe in the 70s and the noughties, then what he looks like today. I think I've aged in an identical fashion.
Ah Cheers for that. Not sure if it’s your thing, but ‘We want the funk’ was on BBC Four the other night and is still on iPlayer. Worth a watch if you’re a fan of having your bass slapped.
I fought the law 9pm tonight itv Sheridan Smith True story about the woman who managed to get the double jeopardy law changed After the death of her daughter Well that’s spoiled the ending don’t bother watching it now
It was originally released under the Bachman pseudonym in 1979, but it was actually the first novel King wrote when he was about 19, in the mid-sixties. I'm looking forward to seeing how the film portrays a book which is structurally very unlike most of King's work, having no digressions, character back-stories or real plot development. It's an exhausting read as the flow of the story (for reasons which are obvious if you've read the book), cannot slow down or be diverted. I'm interested to see how the filmmakers handle this aspect.
The saga of financial shenanigans in football continues... Documentary airing tonight at 9:00 pm on BBC 2 and BBC iPlayer may well be interesting to some. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cg7jn722rkeo (right click on link and "open in new tab" to see article) if needed !
