While getting all these players in is bloody great spare a thought for the lads having to get a dozen new songs/chants worked out for them all. In the olden days we would get a handful in and manage their chants. This lot, apart from there being a multitude of new lads, the have mostly names that are almost unpronounceable. One easy one has gone on loan, Ogunsuyi (Oggy Oggy Oggy) but the high scoring scrabble names we have now will be a nightmare for our sound and chanting department. There’s going to be some very contrived chants coming out this season. Mayender and Sam Fender is childs play compared to the challenges facing our lyricists and chant organisers with this seasons intake. No more the likes of Goooooch or Huuuuume. More than likely it will end up sounding like an episode from ‘Allo Allo.
This. There was a bit of a buzz around the city for a couple of years around the millennium after the SOL opened and Reidy took us up. At the same time the city centre had some redevelopment when the Bridges was expanded, though Vaux had closed some impressive designs were proposed. Sadly it didn't last long and was pretty much done by 2002/03. The club went on a downer, the Vaux site dragged on with Tesco being awkward, then the crash happened in 2008 and everything ground to a halt. Things didn't pick up in the city centre until 2017/18 when they began to develop Vaux. But that coincided with us dropping into League One. Right now it feels so different, a real rebirth of both the city and the club.
He sounds very Seelty..... NEC is furious with Sunderland. The Nijmegen side was expecting Jenson Seelt to arrive, but ultimately had to watch the Dutchman settle at VfL Wolfsburg. That caused bad blood in Nijmegen. "I wasn't happy about that," general manager Wilco van Schaik put it mildly to ESPN. "And certainly not Carlos (Aalbers, ed.). The takeover was a done deal. We closed the deal with Roefs, and then we also made a verbal agreement with Sunderland that we would acquire Seelt for this amount." In Nijmegen, they had to wait a while. Sunderland were struggling with injuries, so Seelt suddenly had to play for England. "They said they'd keep him for a while because he had to play. Okay, no problem . But it took forever. Last Sunday, they said they had so many injuries that it wasn't allowed anymore. They called again on Friday to say they were going to buy two more. So he's back. Well, we'd already made the arrangements, and suddenly we saw him yesterday afternoon in the Wolfsburg shirt. That's not how you do business. This is the ugly side of football. I've never seen Carlos so angry. He texted them this morning saying he regretted selling Roefs to them. That's not how you do business. I know Carlos to be very honest and sincere, and I've rarely seen him so angry. He was done with it. Link in comments
Yep. Great to see, and there is serious likelihood of more progress on both fronts. Superb. I think the posh people call this kind of connection symbiotic. But I'm not posh, so I'll just say I'm over the moon that both are helping each other!
Poor form from us that (if his version of things is accurate), we’re generally better than that as a club. Really disappointing.
Lets be fair, he and KLD seemed to have a massive wobble the season before last. Some might say, they lost focus of the ultimate goal. Thankfully the must have had a rethink and really committed themselves. That how I see it .
How did they have any massive wobble, or lost focus? They have never lost focus or had a wobble. They made a bad decision in appt beale, all clubs make mistakes.
Come on mate it’s business, every club is out for themselves. All good saying you’re going to stick to your word until a better offer comes, then it’s hard luck I’m afraid.
I might be incorrect on this subject but are not verbal agreements not worth the paper they are written on? There will be more to it than what is reported.
Aye. I’d hope we reach out and do something to make amends. Hardly a hotbed of talent NEC but we don’t want summat trivially to cause an issue down the line. That said, horse **** on Roefs money like that’s a godsend to a small club in Holland/
Some might call that a wobble along with the recruitment in the January You forgot also forgot about getting rid of Mowbray midseason before the Beale appointment and about the shambolic appointing of Doddsy as caretaker, again. There's 4 mistakes in 8 months.
