The UK government borrowed a provisional £151.9 billion in the financial year 2024 to 2025. This figure represents public sector net borrowing and is an initial estimate that is subject to revision by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
The UK spent £14,066 million on Official Development Assistance (ODA) in 2024, which was 0.50% of its Gross National Income (GNI). This amount represents a decrease from 2023 and was in line with the government's commitment to spend 0.5% of GNI on ODA. Approximately 20% of the 2024 ODA spend, or £2,834 million, was for supporting refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.

Labour’s approach is ‘tax and spend’ …. or should that be ‘spend then tax - to fill the black hole’.

You never, ever hear Labour talking about reducing spend.

Got to be good news for Defined Benefit Pension Schemes - the higher interest rates are, the lower the Funds’ liabilities are <cheers>

My wife couldn't get on with the book so wasn't expecting much from.the film. However she really like it. I saw Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in Mobland so it was strange at first seeing them in this.

To be honest, The Marlow Murder Club - written around the same time - is probably a better book, and the TV series dramatisation was just as good<cheers>

Graham Linehan (Farther Ted, IT Crowd etc) was arrested at Heathrow by FIVE armed police officers over an innocuous tweet. Some intelligent coversation here...

People do seem to be cottoning on to all this crap now, so hopefully there will be a challenge to this government before it's too late. Reform have vowed to deport all illegals and reverse Labour's recently passed bill to sensor the internet. There is some hope at least.
