Tom tried Baah as a striker but gave up on the experiment Worth giving it a try tho, but depends if Baah is fit enough yet for a full game after his injuries Irankunda is a must start and free kick expert
Thoroughly enjoyable game yesterday, got a point more than I thought we would. Two teams playing decent football, and a third team letting them. If the execution isn't perfect yet, we are beginning to see a better brand of football from that which we've witnessed in quite a few seasons. And, more importantly, Plan A wasn't quite coming off, but Plan B almost won it. Steps in the right direction,
I noticed some fans were trying to match Irankunda to the Igahalo song but I think a version of the Men at Work song would be better starting off with He comes from a land down under and when he scores he brings on thunder
What’s your report on the ref, Fez? I thought he was very good. No home bias, no away bias, no trying to make the game all about him - take note, Mr Steve Martin.
It was worth trying and I think a Premier League side might have the depth to persevere. As a counter-attacking side’s striker, can you imagine him shrugging off defenders if he made those runs through the middle rather than down the wing? The stuff of centre-back nightmares!
Live, I thought it was a very well-taken free-kick. On here, as with the Swansea one, you realise the precision and technical excellence. Then you see he can do this: And all of this: Boring, boring Watford. Not much to that celebration either. I do that when I’ve done the hoovering.
He knows where the goal is and has power and accuracy, I hope he does not injure himself doing all the cart wheels - I would get injured doing the hoovering...
"Two teams playing decent football, and a third team letting them." Apart from high centre of gravity issues with several Southampton players, no other comment. Another very good middle, I thought, and really showed up how bad the officiating was at Charlton!
Hey Fez, I thought that there were a few fouls missed on Luca, by both the centre halves...maybe I have hornet-tinted glasses on, but it did seem that they were holding a little bit too much, and as for the free kick that was given to their keeper down the Vic Road end, as an ex-goalkeeper myself, i would have been embarrassed. overall though a decent showing, but I felt we should have had a few free-kicks for fouls on Luca
Fair enough, his bar for a free-kick was quite high, which I believe is what it’s supposed to be, and yeah, I thought I would have blown for a few more than him (I agree with you re Luca), but I thought he was keeping a low-profile, letting the game flow and not trying to be the star of the show.
Luca didn't get much at all, but at least he wasn't in the same class as GNW or Okaka, both of whom got absolutely SFA out of officials (regardless of how high the latter's centre of gravity became).
