Looks like the bump he got after the gates opened forced the issue - crapped himself and flight instinct took over. His mum did the same on her 2nd start
I see that Into The Sky has been awarded a Timeform rating of 107p - that's the highest rating Timeform have awarded to a debutant, so far, this season. The Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes, back at Newbury, may possibly be the next race for Into The Sky. Quite liked Jim Boyle's quip about the hardest job he's got, re this horse, is keeping him in his yard!!! The vultures, with their big money offers, certainly circling.
The Racing Post seemed to take an age to give a rating to Into The Sky. In the end they settled on 103. That is a terrific figure for a two year old debutante. For context that is higher than Publish has managed in two starts and was better than prominent top two year olds Gstaad, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin and Venetian Sun achieved in their first races. Of course Aidan's horses nearly always improve a lot for their first and it remains to be seen how much, if any, Into The Sky will improve from his debut. I know it was on his second start but Mum's Tipple ran out an 11 length winner and his rating shot up to 1l He was fast tracked to the Middle Park stakes but finished only 7th. His career was stop/start thereafter with more stop than start and he recently won off 86 after dropping to a mark of 80 at York to regain the winning thread after a drought. One good thing for Into The Sky is that the standard seems below average to me this season and a twice raced sprinter with an injury heads the 2000 Guineas and Derby betting for next year. You don't need to be Einstein to work that one out. At only 25000 Guineas Into The Sky looks a snip and would surely have been a good thing in one of the money races with a big pot.
