On the face of it - ok. But there have been a few windows now where we have thought there has been reasonable business only for it to actually be a disaster, so will see how it goes. (oh this is last years one, I had repressed that nightmare)
IMHO a decent enough transfer window, nothing Stella but on the face of things we've replaced both Dibling and Fernandes well ( especially as both wanted out ) but we've failed to move on players that were surplus to requirements, perhaps Edozie will come good? It would have been an excellent window if we had strengthened our striker options, AA and Stewart could have been loaned out? In fact any of our misfiring front line could have been loaned out and a marquee signing appearing in their place but not to be! The other area of contention is Bazunu some like him, some hate him but I do feel we could have upgraded there and it might come back to bite us? As always it's just an opinion " Happy Clapper Alert"
On paper it looks as if we have brought in several players who are genuine first team contenders, as against squad fillers. With the exception of the goalkeeper, you could make a case for all the others either starting or being on a very strong bench, which is a great result and credit to SR, for hiring Spors and credit to Spors for getting players who play in the positions that Will Still wanted. No hiding place for Still, now, although getting the team firing on all cylinders starting with the Pompey game is a huge challenge. Has Stephens previously played in this derby, or will they all be South Coast derby virgins? McCarthy played in the 0-4 cup game so it will be up to him and Jack to get the message across to the team and manager just how important it is to give everything to win this. Instant legend status is there to be grasped.
