Shaq Forde is out for 12 weeks following surgery on his hamstring injury. Also Jordon Garrick, who was on trial and looked likely to sign on, has moved to Ireland instead with St Patrick's Athletic and was on their bench tonight in the Conference League qualifier vs Besiktas. Was unused in their 4-1 defeat.
We’ve signed Polish centre back Kacper Lopata on loan from Barnsley. He grew up in Bristol from the age of 9. Spent last season on loan at Ross County in the SPL. Welcome to Rovers, Kacper and UTG!
DC had him at Barnsley and loaned him out as not ready for L1. Some Barnsley fans thinks he's rubbish and wishes us luck in a negative way. Some fans thinks he does a solid job a no nonsense defender but lacks pace but thinks he will do well at L2 level. So a mix bag of opinions from them. DC wants 4, that's 1 down. Personally I think we need another 6/7 but never going to happen. I hope though the remaining players we bring in have leadership skills because our players need a rocket up their arse in games. I don't mind some hungry youth players itching to get on the pitch like when we had Anderson on loan but if its just youths then we are going to be in trouble. Need more balance with mentality because right now the squads mentality is going down the pan.
Taylor, Conteh, Ward J, Thomas and Omochere and Dewsbury would have been a good basis for the team this year, most of the others I don't think would be greatly missed
Latest from DC on Chris Martin after Dan Hargraves saw him out on the grass at The Quarters: "Early rehab. Working hard with our head of medical Gav and the fitness coaches and just working him hard and seeing and we’re just taking it on a weekly basis to see how he keeps building. We’re not putting too much on Chris and we’ll see how things develop over the recent (sic) weeks." Could be interesting to see if Chris Martin can rebuild his fitness - if so, and if he elects to stay with us - I reckon he could do a good job with us at League 2 level, despite his age. His experience and quality could well be worth another contract until the end of the season.
Window closes Sunday the 1st and they are looking to bring 1 defender and 2 midfielders in, we have been linked with a Wrexham Striker Palmer?? and a Kilmarnock midfielder but know further news of a concrete nature
We've signed Joel Cotterill (20) on loan from Swansea City. Joel's an attacking midfielder who has also signed a new contract with the Swans, keeping him there until end of the 2027 season. He spent last season on loan at Swindon, scoring five times in 48 appearances in total. Welcome to the Gas Joel! Joel Cotterill: Bristol Rovers sign Swansea City midfielder on loan - BBC Sport More to come? We'll see in the next few hours - another central defender we need for sure as back up for Kilgour and Lopata.
A lot of last season, Swindon were a poor side but he did well by all accounts. Could be a good signing this despite his young age as he's already got some good experience in this league under his belt.
We're bottom of the food chain at the moment where you have L1 clubs taking our targets by all accounts. They rather play L1 than L2. Still time though for some more to slip through their net and into our club
