You were complaining about a few weeks ago that we were wasting time going for unrealistic targets such as Sesko, Pedro, Ekitike etc. Now you're complaining that we didn't go for that level of player by not going for Muani. Seriously, you couldn't make it up.
Letting the rat go was clearly the best thing to do, even if it looks like that he's the latest one to take the pee out of our Saudi owners and successfully rip his contract up. He's been a great scorer, but certainly physically fragile. I doubt his injury record will suddenly disappear, and he'll not get a run of penalties to boost his numbers from here on in. JDT won't give a monkeys if he breaks down with the Sweden camp. I've faith in Woltemade and Wissa to score most of the goals and the other signings to provide a bit more squad resilience for the extra games. I can't wish the rat well and I hope our club doesn't either. I'm pleased that his loyalty payment has been blocked. We must move on and take the PSR benifits for the next couple of windows.
I popped on a YouTube live thing there and the tantrums were amazing. PIF have no backbone etc etc ****ing hell we've spent 260 million. We're in the Champions league and won a trophy. Bad performances is one thing but the PIF blaming is far more ridiculous... If you see anyone being negative I expect you to threaten them Obi won
Roland is alright cos he openly admits what he's like, he is what he is. Munson does it specifically for attention when he's feeling a bit left out which is usually a bit more annoying
Isak played well for us and was a great signing. He helped us compete at the top of the league and win a trophy. I agree with Jamie Carragher in lots of ways on this and in the end think his reasoning that we had to sell Isak was sound and made sense. Isak was never someone who pretended he wanted to retire at Newcastle, he never looked like he was satisfied with us and he never pretended otherwise, at the end of the day we sold a good player for a good price and signed 2 replacements. That's football. He did his job and that's it
As good a summary as you'll find. The criticisms, which are justified, were in his and I'd argue mainly Newcastle's behaviour in what was an utterly inevitable situation. We stormed into the Summer big dick swinging and have left it with a tuck under.
We have finished this window looking better overall but so have most of the top teams, CL will be a short campaign this year.
I'd hope we've got enough to get the play off place, then that'll probably be that depending on draw. 10 games, good revenues. We're certainly better, but still think we're two short. Who unlocks these low blocks? Who holds it up when we need to relieve pressure in a game? Who ensures Barnes/Trippier are League Cup and emergency only?!
I hope Woltemade might help with the first 2 parts. But agree, we really need at least 1 more creative player in. But time is against us now. The final question, we all know, is on Howe. And (unfortunately) he will definitely use them both.
I’m really chuffed with the window. Depth is much better, we now have actually two strikers who will bang goals in where as before Callum was just a waste of a shirt & Isak is quite injury prone. Think Ramsey will turn out to be class aswell.
100% There are ways of getting a transfer that don't involve being a total prick. But it seems that is the way things are going more and more. So best get used to it.
Roland, I just want to be the first to let you know - we've also agreed to a 25% sell on clause with Brentford on the Wissa deal. So in total it's around £50m (half paid now, half next summer) +£5m in add-ons + 25% next sale fee.
I still think there is one deal left that we're working on which will be an AM, hopefully this Fratessi fella or Lopez ideally but I don't think we're done just yet. The Isak deal over time will prove to be the right move and a reasonable one. £130m + his £5m non-loyalty bonus is probably is crazy money really when you think about it. It would have been nice for him to not get his way and get the move he wanted this summer but the club have clearly felt we would get the most bang for our buck this summer and not Jan or next summer and have clearly agreed on it knowing that the Wissa deal was going to happen. EH has said all the long that he only wants people at the club who want to be here and rat boy clearly didn't so it would have been very difficult for EH to then pick him had he still been here over someone else who does want to be here (regardless of comparable skill level). Like it or not we've done the right thing in my opinion. Isak has done us all a favour by being a **** as nobody is mourning the loss of him to a fellow PL team now.
