Their penalty was more obvious than ours when you look at the incident individually. When you widely look at ours he could have given 3 there’s was a lad holding front post and another back post. He needs to suck it up we deserved the win, we simply fought harder. Very little between the teams and that’s good. That’s such a great marker for us that game.
Fully deserves it in my opinion, really knows his stuff, supports the Lads and sees things we all miss.
I think he is just being impartial. I remember a teacher at secondary school who reckoned he was mates with him as a kid saying that he had no love for us but as the bloke was a mag and a proper bellend imo, although most the school thought he was class. I went to secondary school in weardale so being a mag and a ****ing tit about it to a bunch of school kids didn't automatically have you disliked like it would in Sunderland! I always took that with a pinch of salt like! What a talent he was mind and shows how spoilt we were with Quinn and Phillips that be couldn't a regular start for us! Injury ****ed him very early in his career like!
Ironically I don't believe it was a corner when Brentford were awarded their penalty ... ... but I'm not sure it was a Sunderland corner when we got ours. Edit - looked back on TV and I reckon I was wrong on both
The thing is, not that it matters, but I thought they were only given if the player fouled was getting the ball without the foul. The ball was ten yards behind his run. Happy to stand corrected! Diarra was likely to get the ball, their player was never anywhere near it. Silly fro Mandava mind but hey how. All’s well that ends well!
It was clear that it was being clamped down on and defenders will take a while to adjust as it’s always been part of game. What we can be thankful of is that the referee was consistent on our game. There’s been blatant examples in United and Chelsea games over last 2 weeks of contradictions, credit to the ref for being absolutely even.
Luke seems like a clever lad, am sure he will be watching and learning, could be best thing for him that he was injured
I disagree. I think he’d have said what Keith Andrew’s said! Theirs was a penalty and ours wasn’t! And probably the their disallowed goal should stand as the rule is wrong or something!!
Now, I’m delighted with what Patterson did for us last season, but, imo, Roefs (sorry, Rooooooooeeeefs) is already levels above him. Distribution is outstanding!! Absolutely amazing signing imo.
He's great mind, especially for a tactical dunce such as me. You can hoy him a couple of bob anarl, so I've done that
The penalties were both the result of the new directions to the refs I think. I'm in favour. Let's get two or three every game and stop the grappling. And maybe stop tthe eternal wait for a corner or other set piece while the ref inspects every player's position. Bloody hell, you'll have to fill a form in soon to take a free kick if they don't sort it out
I thought he had a very good game for them and was delighted he got a great ovation when he went off. I was a bit concerned he wouldn't get a nice welcome back due to his Saudi decision but it was good to see us show our appreciation for one of our own.
I can definitely remember that being said at one time, maybe just trying to explain some inconsistent reffing. But it's impossible to keep up with!
Another one from X. Can we acknowledge how much of a difference it makes now that they’ve changed to attacking towards the Roker End in the second half, it’s no coincidence. Personally I prefer them attacking the North stand 2nd half as I am closer to that goal but if this gets wins then so be it.
It was apparently. I was really impressed with him, defensively and how he used the ball so calmly. He’ll and up at in a champions league side him. Or should.
