On todays and last weeks showings it is more risk than reward. Woeful in midfield. Thin squad or something else? I thought this guy changed tactics to suit whatever the opposition were doing. Did I read that or have I made another mistake? Entertaining for a neutral but relegation form if it's your team.
He played as the 10 then so wasn't as impactful on the two holding roles. We've looked at our best with Crooks and Lundstram there and defensively woeful with Slater and Lundstram, it's undeniable.
I wasn’t really making a point about our general play, just that photo. Sergey did change things around in the second half and we did a lot better, though they still had chances. He's finding his way the hard way. As others have said, it didn’t help that Lundstram lost his head after half an hour and was absolute dogtod.
I actually didn’t want us to sign Bird as I thought he was too lightweight for what we needed at the time, even though he’s a tidy player. I did want us to sign Knight though.
Bristol basically just raid relegated Championship teams for their best players. They took them from Derby, Plymouth and Wycombe and then top them up with young players like McNally and Roberts from bigger clubs.
Yes but it's telling we play at our worst when it's Slater in the two. Not sure why everyone defends him so much. Lundstram has looked great next to Crooks.
Bristol look like they've stepped it up from last season. They looked decent then but seemed lacking in the final third and they appear to have addressed that. There is definitely an argument for not messing with our defence from last season as they did superbly in the circumstances. It's not a surprise that they've gone to other Championship teams.
Ah but their owner isn't from Turkey you see. They're owned by Steve Landsdown, who basically owns every sports club in Bristol. Except Bristol Rovers, of course. Sucks to be them. Although they are owned by a Kuwaiti businessman. And have yet to sign any Kuwait based players. So there's that. They do have a couple of players I like. I've always been a fan of Ruel Sotiriou and they signed a lad from Bohemians called Promise Omochere who looks very handy.
Bristol City have been slowly building a good championship team over a number of seasons, whilst giving the likes of Twine and Mehmeti a chance to find their feet despite indifferent starts to their careers at Bristol. Meanwhile every single transfer window we have a massive churn over of players giving us zero continuity, whilst seemingly giving up on young players like Kamara after one season.
I wonder if their fanbase has more patience than ours? Akintola was a dosser based off one cameo last week.
To be fair I think their fans were on Twines back for quite a while when he first went their. Obviously he's turned it round now.
fans are reactionary after games, tale as old as time but they dont have to rebuild a new squad every single summer for 3 or 4 years running under big acun
Lundstrum is getting a lot of abuse on Twatter. Thought he’s comfortably our best player midfielder on the ball we’ve had for ages. He just needs legs round him.
which is as stupid as the slater bashing its not one player thats the problem its a collective, neither of them can play deep off the ball especially against good attacks you can ask them to try but it just clearly doesnt work
