We were bad, ref was worse, write it off and move on.

Terrible result and performance but Bournemouth are a difficult team to beat these days. They almost beat Liverpool.

Tel had a wonderful chance with some half volley. Just a foot wide.

Hopefully levy recognises we need a few more signings rather than think “That’s all we need”.

I was expecting nothing really of note this season if I'm honest, but performances like this still jar. There were so many 3/10 players today they were never getting anything from the game.

Never mind the big cup final game up next to look forward to ....:bandit:

The truly upsetting thing is that you've allowed Chelsea to go top.

We are never allowed to have an even progression
I'll recommend a book for you Luke: How To Win Friends And Influence People.

Yeah that’s the only positive from that.

New starting LW has to be on the agenda for me.

You can also see where Simons can fit in, a creator would’ve been ideal to have on the pitch today.

Really think we need to consider loans for Gray and at least one of Odobert or Tel too. None are ready at the moment to make meaningful impacts in games, Gray especially isn’t really gonna get many chances at the moment either I don’t think.

Iraola continues to impress at Bournemouth though, even after losing countless players. Hopefully he loses another one to us in the next couple days…

    Poor.

We still lack creativity and goals. Xavi Simons and an additional creative outlet required on the left.

I too am glad that happened before the window is closed, and just after Xavi signed, so there will be no complacency.
It shows also why a player like Rodgers would actually be very useful even in addition to what we have. We still lack guile. We got bullied by players with arguably less 'skill'.

I'm glad Tel, Odebert and Odogie had a go. Xavi and Rodgers in place of Bergvall and Bentancur towards the end may have made the difference.

Bentancur was knackered by the end. He misplaced passes all over the place.

I agree on the LW position. I think Johnson is great on counter attacks or relatively open games, but we need more lock pickers.

Spence is becoming a monster of a player.

It's worrying that Richy played so **** today, Solanke was out injured and we had no cover from the bench. Priority for me is a decent striker, as good as Richy was the last few games he is unreliable. On top of that Odobert and Tel aren't up to Prem level yet.

On a positive note, it was great see Frank proactive with his subs, he saw things weren't working out and he had no hesitation in changing it up. Bergvall was a bright spark on an otherwise shocking performance.

The big issue is we looked to use our overload the right strategy, and Bournemouth were ready for it

If we had a bit more guile or technique through the centre that would have created more options or sidestepped Bournemouth's press, but instead we ran out of ideas while Bournemouth kept having new ones like swapping out kicking our players off the pitch for hurling themselves to he ground

Yeah I’d love a new striker but I don’t see it happening. We’ve got two strikers that somehow cost us £125m, until one goes, I don’t see a new one coming in.

Would have helped if he actually got awarded a free kick from one of three or four blatant fouls on him when holding up the ball

Not a guarantee that would have led to anything other than a free kick being blasted into the wall, but one of those things that set the tone

Our performance also shouldn’t take away how inept the ref was as well. Semenyo should have had a second yellow and he gave us nothing all afternoon yet bought everything Bournemouth offered.

    Bit ott <laugh>

Let’s not forget last season and finishing 17th with 22 defeats with some truly horrific performances.

Today was bad but it’s to be expected.

It’s based on the stats that they had 19 shots to our 5 and we had 1 shot on target. That is a shockingly one sided performance.
If we react well next time we play in a couple of weeks and get a win, then maybe I will look back and think I’m being OTT, but right now this is how I feel about that display.

Yeah a bad day lacking attacking quality but it’s only a 1-0 defeat. Last season was full of a lot worse performances and results.

Could be worse, our best player could be leaving and we could have 2 points out of 9 with the toughest champions league draw out of any of the English teams!
