Big game. Hopefully Amorim doesn't thrown himself under the bus by picking Onana, and also shows some formation flexibility. Be disappointed if he does. Heaton should be in goal, but probably Bayindir gets the call. Would like a back four, which would be Mazaroui, Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw. That allows for a midfield three of Casemiro, Fernandes and Mount. Shame for Mainoo, but right now he's behind Bruno for that position. Long term, if he can wait given that he's already 20 years old and nearly over the hill, it's his. Front three of Mbuemo, Cunha, Sesko. Mainoo, Amad, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Dorgu etc. make do with being sub. We live in hope.
So many chances go begging. Why do we not have a striker on the pitch? We spent £70m on a player that can’t start a home game against Burnley.
You gotta feel for Amorim. Can’t celebrate the goals. Can’t bear watching the game. He’s under so much pressure and he has no idea how to deal with it. This is affecting the team and you can see it in how we play. It’s like a cup final. It’s Burnley ffs!!
Please! You’re overly focusing on inconsequential things. What is consequential is that this is a game of results and performances. Focus on that, be intellectually honest, and go from there. I can’t help but think you adore Amorim because he plays three at the back which has never worked for the team. I want him to succeed. However, if he can’t come up with a system that works in the league, then his position should rightly be relinquished. You only have to watch Amorim today to know that he is sitting on his own knives. He has no joy right now and that has nothing to do with anyone else. He needs to find a positive coherence to lead this team. But I’m relieved we got the three points today.
