Ah OK, I've just read from trusted insider 'HandofArsenal' that Arsenal had a lot of offers for Kiwior but he was set on Porto and that ruled out every other suitor. Palace were one of the other clubs who really wanted Kiwior, but couldn't convince him. Makes sense then I suppose.
Reports today that Crystal Palace are in talks with us to sign Reiss Nelson for £15m. That's probably a fair fee given his injuries, low stocks and lack of game time recently. It'd count as pure profit on the books. I hope we can get this deal sorted. Would be a good move for Reiss too.
With Stuttgart receiving over £70m for Woltemade following his departure to Newcastle, they definitely have money to play with and can afford to spend a chunk of that on Fabio Vieira if they really want him. Hoping we can see movement on Nelson, Lokonga and Zinchenko by the end of the window too.
Zinchenko in talks with Marseille over a permanent move according to Ornstein. But the main sticking point are his wages. I hope we can find a resolution to this soon. ]
Tomiyasu is gone, Tierney is gone, Kiwior is on the verge of joining Porto and Zinchenko is in talks with Marseille/has no future at the club. On top of that, Gabriel is coming off the back of a lengthy injury, Calafiori is injury prone and even Ben White keeps picking up knocks. So yeah, I would say this is absolutely a signing we needed.
Still think it's a shame Kiwior was sold. The guy put in great performances at LB and CB. Hincapie looks decent though and Mosquera looked superb in Pre-Season.
give over 3 of the 4 leaving barely played in last few years and Kiwior had already been replaced by Mosquero . We're getting by with 2 covered by a 19 with less than 20 pro appearances and Gomez who is made of glass . and yes there is a tinge of jealousy in this post
Yes, exactly - you're proving my point. They barely played, and as a result, we had to over rely on the same defenders with minimal rotation. It also led to the injuries in defence that we saw throughout last season. Kiwior has not been replaced by Mosquera. Kiwior is a LCB and is/was Gabriel's understudy. Mosquera is Saliba's. So, with Hincapie coming in we, we have: RB: Timber, White LCB: Gabriel, Calafiori, Hincapie RCB: Saliba, Mosquera LB: Calafiori, Hincapie, Lewis-Skelly I also think we are planning to move Lewis-Skelly into midfield eventually. As for what your club is doing, what's that got to do with us? It's not our fault you've left yourselves short in defence this late in the window.
