Apparently Ipswich, having signed Furlong, now have the entire back 4 and GK from West Brom from the 21/22 season (albeit I don't know if they were all regulars). Palmer, Townsend. O'Shea, Kipre, Furlong
Unknown as in - not played in a major European league I guess. Seems like a lot of money but the sort of player who might have a higher ceiling and more premier league potential than someone like Fellows. But I expect if we were linked with him for double what we are apparently paying Fellows us fans would want us to sign the player we are actually going for…
I was surprised to see that our squad is actually very British Isles heavy, more than I thought. As of today, of the 29 players listed in Wikipedia, 22 are British Isles nationals. You could argue 24 as both BBD and Aribo are born and bred in the UK. If you include Damion Downs, then 25 are native English speakers. Seems like that's going against the grain of most squads
I think if I was an Ipswich fan, I'd be thinking that WBA have got the better deal there. Feels like Ipswich would have better served signing Gilchrist than Furlong. I guess time will tell.
Have they signed Furlong as first choice? Don’t they have Johnson? Or is he off? edit : seen an opinion piece suggesting he might leave as he’s on 30k a week.
Good news. Just want Leicester to lose BEK, and Fautuwu now and Pompey to lose Murphy for different reasons.
Big loss for them! Especially as they won’t be getting funds for a replacement. Can see them struggling this season given their poor start. Selles well out of his depth
Wonder why it’s only a loan. And who is driving that. That said loaned one of our top players out to a premier league club
Very different scenarios though. Unless Leeds convert the loan into a permanent move, Hamer will apparently return to Sheff Utd next summer with only one year left on his contract. So this summer was arguably their last chance to sell him for decent money, not too dissimilar to us with Dibling. I also doubt that Hamer's wages are comparable to Ramsdale's. One was signed from Arsenal, the other from Coventry. We've already recouped a decent amount in transfer fees from other sales. Far more than Sheff Utd have. If they want to reinvest to spearhead another promotion attempt, I struggle to see how this loan benefits them. Unless the loan comes with a decent sized obligation to buy - and I assume it doesn't, because why would Hamer want to risk getting relegated with Leeds and having to then stay - I'd be pretty fuming as a Sheff Utd that it's only a loan. Either keep him or sell him.
Yes it seems like they’ve got the raw end in two ways - the player not wanting to stay and play for them and not being able to get a fee
