    Good question.
One that's effective and that doesn't stop sites you are using from working normally. I've only dabbled with them and quickly given up because sites wouldn't work as normal with the ad blocker on.

On FireFox browser I use -
AdBlock+, Ghostery and Privacy Badger Any issues with page not working just pause the offending app whilst you are done.

I also use Ghostery in Firefox, which even blocks YT ads ;)

Google Chrome seems to have had a major crackdown on adblockers (slightly understandable as that's the whole premise of their empire), so if you use that, you might be a bit **** out of luck.

I use the Firefox browser with uBlock Origin and it works flawlessly.

I use Chrome with Avast adblocker and VPN, but you do have to switch them off to access some things.

As a poster says below Adblock+ is pretty decent. Doesn’t stop many things working, at least on Safari Also, as another poster says using DuckDuckGo as your browser is effective. Both methods stooped the constant popups on sites like the HDM which previously made it unreadable.

Firefox, Duck Duck Go + Adguard (for just in case) - keeps everything at bay

On my phone I’ve got AdBlock Pro, makes reading HDM actually readable without jumping all over the place.

I like reading ads. They are often an improvement on the HDM content.

uBlock Origin. Very rare nowadays for me to have to turn it off to use a website.
