Never fussed about losing any player now tbh. If get double back what we pay every time we can build a fantastic squad that can go out and do some serious football. Wouldn't like to lose Tonali but imagine what we'd get for him!
We wouldn't do that though, as it would restrict our recruitment abilities in future transfer windows and force us into further sales over the next few years that we may not want to make. We'd probably spend around the £140m, or just over, if we sell him for that much.
Indeed, there's a misconception created by Chelsea about PSR and amortisation. We're 1/5th of their revenues or something, which is why they can spend 5x as much! Isak for £140m does, however, heavily protect us in future windows and with a better CL run this year, sponsorship of the revamped training facility, a new CEO who is commercially driven (or just give Jamie/Jacobo the role) and new streams we should be in a position to continually challenge. Woltemade has made a huge difference to this window. Realistically one more, two at a stretch, and things are looking very rosy. I'd be actually happy with Wissa - I think having a bit of PL nous isn't a bad idea, it would be a big ask to have Woltemade, Osula and someone like Openda trying to learn the PL ropes. We also need to tie down a midfielder - can see Mainoo working out.
I was flying yesterday between Edinburgh and Luton so missed most of the excitement. Great signing this and if we get Wissa and a midfielder will be an excellent window. Please hold out for £150M for Isak or sell abroad for less and it will be a perfect window. (outcome not process)
I’m not suggesting we would spend it all in one window. It eases things for the 3 year cycle. It effectively would mean we won’t have any issues spending 400m plus over the next 2-3 years.
He asked for a loan which was rejected. He wouldn’t get in our first 11 and that’s the issue he has at manu. But would be terrific backup mind.
What's with Chelsea taking Liverpool to court over Ngumoha? All the reports suggest he left at end of contract and then signed for Liverpool on a free. So why would Chelsea be entitled to compensation? It doesn't seem like he left while under contract.
We're linked with Fratessi again - on loan. So that probably means we're looking at someone currently playing in Italy and will be under the radar. I think we know Isak is going and will sell on deadline day. We're using the money from the expected sale already.
Aye I’m sure there’s meant to be compensation for young players who have trained through academies. It’s a minimal thing normally. But I hope they screw them over and take them for a fortune.
It really wouldn't surprise me. Imagine Vlahovic and Woltemade in the same team with Gordon and Elanga on the wings, with Tonali and Bruno/ Joelinton/ Ramsay behind. Yeah I wouldn't want to be facing that.
