Yeah wish him well. Don’t care about the manner in which he left, because we’ll never know the full story. Don’t think he’s yet good enough to have a significant impact at West Ham, certainly not a £40m impact. Very happy with the players we’ve got in for the money.
The statement feels pretty terse.. but I guess there's not much more to say. Interesting that they publicly disclosed the fee
Even if the story is true I don’t really care. It’s how football works, obviously a better move for him so did what he needed to do to get it it done. A bright spark in a **** season, had a pint with my Everton mate last night who already thinks Dibling is **** from his cameo against Mansfield, and wanted them to sign Fernandes as well. Apparently he called himself dribbling Dibling in his interview with their media team, which is great on a few levels.
Shame he ****ed it up at the end when we probably would have sold anyway. He did everything right until then and would have been remembered fondly. As it is, **** him and hopefully he will be relegated again this season
In all fairness Fernandes is too good for the Championship. We made a good return on our investment after just one year so overall a good bit of business and no ill feeling from my side.
Has the club ever included the transfer fee in an announcement instead of it being undisclosed? That's quite telling if so.
Presumably because they expect West Ham to brief that it was lower and, with Matty going without permission, thought '**** 'em'.
That’s a very short statement from the club and says a lot about the manner in which he left and to a certain extent who he left for. It’s a step up in wages, step up wage wise for his agent and I think he believes it’s the right thing for him in terms of his international future. As with Dibling, we’ve got a good fee for him; in my very limited opinion, although he was the light in a dark season, his impact did very little and this season in the few games he’s played, his heads not been in it. West Ham may well end up as this seasons whipping boys, the club is in free fall all over the place and I don’t think this is the right move for him as he’s not “there” yet. On the upside, he may have e been a bit of a t*t in the end, but it allows us to get some properly exciting players in to make sustained impact in a number of areas.
If he's been told he needs to be in a top league to have a chance at the national squad, I can hardly blame him. He never publicly kicked up a fuss, either. We've received pretty good money (although we could've got more if we were still in the Prem) and look to be reinvesting a large chunk if not all of it on players who have experience. Good luck, Matty, you'll be welcome back next season when West Ham get relegated and we go up!
