Is he good value for city to sell at 6m? Under normal circumstances, yes. The restrictions on being able to replace him and that anything other than a poor season would see his value significantly drop between being a 25 year old or a 26 year old is why it's blatantly not in the clubs interest to sell him now.
Our number 2 keeper is ****e. Unlikely we are going to get a quality out of contract replacement so then we’re looking at free loans. But that would mean using the fifth loan spot that the club are trying to reserve for a revised Laalaoui deal. Tricky.
What’s the point is signing 2 injury prone centre backs and then selling Hughes, we are potentially letting Ivor go, whilst also letting tlt and Cartwright out on loan aswell. All for money we can’t spend
I have a feeling Hughes will go. They wouldn’t keep submitting bids unless Hughes’ agent told them he was open to the move. They’re clearly confident they can break the club’s resolve before the window shuts.
I have the same hunch... But just out of interest,is there any way of knowing what kind of budget Lampard has left at his disposal?
theyre looking likely they will sell van ejiwk and if so, id be very surprised if they didnt come in with a £12m+ bid although, if he does stay, i still think they have £15m to play with
I don’t know but they bought their stadium for about £30 million out of the blue so they’re clearly flush.
i think itd be a sad indictment of the clubs situation if we sold hughes or pandur with 3 days left of the transfer window
Especially if it’s to other Championship clubs. We were woeful defensively without Hughes against Blackburn and Ajayi and Famewo can’t keep fit. We can’t adequately replace them so why not just tell bidding clubs ‘due to our situation, we can’t let them leave this summer or January but we may entertain bids that meet our valuation next summer’?
unless disaster happens, their values wont go down, hughes especially will just go up i think itll just depend on how bad the finances actually are, we shall see
If after August we’ve got Phillips in goal with Egan and McCarthy as the back 2 we will be in serious trouble.
Points in the board are better than games in hand. Hughes could break his leg and Pandur could have a stinker of a season and then he’s got to write off an extra £15m.
If Hughes and Pandur both leave, I reckon Gelhardt goes back to Leeds as well and probably tries to find a move elsewhere. They’re the reason he wanted to come here.
