Tim Walter’s main problem was his man management. Guy came across like an absolute whopper. His theatrics on the sidelines for a misplaced pass boiled my piss as well.

It would be revisionist in the extreme to suggest there weren't fundamental issues with his tactical approach as well.

Ha, what part of nine consecutive non-victories, wanting goal music and increasingly uncomfortable post match interviews would make anyone want to have seen Walter stay longer at city.

Well I found the summary of ins and outs quite useful, not entirely sure of the backstory, but it's a forum ‍♂️

Never said he was a genius. I said I was curious to see if his tactics would have worked had he have had a settled team and time. It was an unpopular opinion at the time to give him longer, but I still hold it, despite what anyone else might think about it.

I also don't think Tim Walter set us back at all. If anything it was our business last summer, or at least the manner of it that really set us back. I mean, look at us now.

Taking flak for this from the usual suspects when most of it is on page one, put there by OLM who gets plaudits for it.
    Funny old game football forums.

Yep fully . You would hope the club are not gambling on it and are certain of the arrangement and it’s all formalities - hope !

There's clearly a financial imperative to the Kamara, and every other outgoing deal we've done this window then.

If we don't lose anymore key players and sign Amir, then that makes the work they've done in the window all the more impressive.

    Roll on Monday.

There was more chance of Hitler turning round the fortunes of the Third Reich, if he'd held off pulling the trigger in his bunker, than Walter ever being able to turn round the fortunes of City at the time..
Up there with Dowie and Parkinson as the ****test city managers of all time.

Doubt they’ll have pushed it up to the amount we would consider.

It worked pretty well in his previous job with a settled side. I said before he came in that I'd be curious to see how/if it worked. Unfortunately due to chaotic and late summer activity and some major, key injuries I don't think we ever got to see it in action properly. I also think the tactical shift was too big a change for the players we retained. Rosie ball was too safe, but Walter ball seemed much more kamikaze - or at least how we ended up executing it.

At no point have I declared Walter's tactics are genius, so don't put words in my mouth.

He had the best team by miles there

If his tactics werent so revolutionary
    Could have been promoted

Im also curious to see what itd have been like if mccann stayed
    To be fair

So nothing to do with any other factors that might have contributed, or just as black and white as 'Tim Walter was ****' then? If Bedia was a striker's arsehole for example. Or if Belloumi and Millar had stayed fit. Or if we had an actual left back worth fielding.

It was too much change too soon - from a tactical and recruitment perspective. We were a **** show, both on and off the field. We'll never know if he'd had turned it round, but with the way it started going I don't think he would have done, no. It all got far too volatile, which is why I agree that Acun had to pull the trigger when he did.

No coincidence they got promoted the first full season after he left. They had the biggest budget. He failed 3 times.
