That's true but it's strange how these stats over time often seem to consistently pan out. Yes it's completely different sets of players but there's obviously something going on that's somehow beyond coincidence.

Famewo still being out with this "kick to the calf" is a really poor look at the start of his City career, when he's arrived with a notably poor injury record. Destan being perennially a week away is becoming a bit suspect too.

Maybe that’s why his previous club agreed to let him move to us on a free? Saves them wages and they’ve got a potential fee in future if any good. Hopefully he isn’t another Sinik though!

    on about Destan^

Someone needs to update Destan's Wikipedia page. According to that he has played since 2023 <laugh>

I think it’s like all professions. You have people who don’t miss a day of work and others who call in sick because they have a cold. I don’t see why football players would be any different. Some players would rather just get paid and not face the pressure of playing if they can get away with it.

    That can be the case

But you cant play if youre not fully fit
Some players bodies just cant handle the brutalness of professional football properly

Theres not always a mentality problem

Itd prob depressing as **** if you care but your body just doesnt take it

Is that true, Kalman? I don't know, but the opposite would make more sense - they're training all week/all their lives and so will want to do the thing they're good at would be the logic... Can't imagine any pro-sports player would enjoy being injured.

Some are unlucky, some have bodies that just don’t hold up to the demands of regular professional football and others will just want to get paid whilst doing as little as possible, like in almost all professions. That would include feigning or exaggerating the severity of their injuries to avoid playing.

We know some players aren’t model professionals so it’s not exactly a conspiracy if they pick and choose their availability.

I’m sure I remembe Martin O’Neil saying it when interviewed about a Leicester player when he was their manager
He’s come out of the sick bay and scored today
His contract is due soon then he’ll be back in the sick bay

Famewo took a knock to his ankle in training, then was ill last week with the bug and now he has a pulled calf.

Maybe he is just incredibly unlucky or he’s more prone to muscle injuries than others. My point about feigning injuries isn’t directed at him as I don’t know but I do think some players declare themselves unable to play when they actually can.

some players def take it easy when they get a nice contract, it can be easy to lose the passion when youre making more than you ever dreamed of, no idea what famewo is like

    some are just unlucky

but we knew his history when signing

LEICESTER boss Martin O'Neill was in trouble last night following his bad-taste attack on injury-prone striker Ian Marshall.

O'Neill said: "I have known people get over AIDS more quickly than Marshall has recovered from hamstring trouble!"

But later, O'Neill admitted: "My remark was tongue in cheek and I wish I had never made it. I meant nothing by it, and I sincerely hope nobody will take offence."

A spokesman for the Terence Higgins Trust commented: "It's good to hear that Mr O'Neill recognises that HIV is a serious medical condition.

"But the fact remains that there is no cure or vaccine for the disease, and no person has ever got rid of the virus from their body."

Marshall, 33, celebrated only his fourth start of the campaign by scoring twice as Leicester beat Fulham in a penalty shoot-out to reach the Worthington Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

That didn't stop O'Neill, who abandoned his training to become a lawyer in favour of a football career, from saying: "We just can't remove Ian from the treatment table. He seems to be in love with it, and sits there thinking 'I'll have another cigarette and maybe the rest of the lads will go out and do something for me'.

"It is not until after Christmas that Ian seems to recover to make sure he gets another contract.

"I'm sure Ian knows he could have done more to get himself fit, and he will be disappointed at making so few appearances during his stay at Filbert Street. I didn't expect him to last more than 60 minutes against Fulham. Instead, he stayed out there for the full two hours and gave us everything."

Jesus. Famewo took a knock to his calf in training, then was ill last week, and isn't ready for Saturday. But let's do the usual of writing off a player before they've even started.

You do realise the other part of my post is visible to everyone else and you quoting the first bit without the following context just makes you look like a snide ****?

I never wrote him off at all, as demonstrated in the second part of my post.
