Not the greatest start from these two, particularly when you considering some of their blistering starts in the PP during the group stage. But the Middlesex bowlers are a level up from what we often faced in the group stage. And we're still none down, so well placed to kick on.
I was expecting to see us at least 5 down when clicking back to the stream given your comment and I was relieved to see it was only 3! I'd certainly settle for a score of around 260-270 now, that's for sure.
I'd like to but I'm the bad luck charm. I went to Edgbaston for a T20 Finals Day and we lost to Notts in the semi and then I went to the Leics final which we should have won. Other times I've not gone and we've won... Yes, I know, stay away please!
At least we're not doing as bad as Gloucs. (I see that my second favourite Somerset bowler has been taking wickets again.) I did wonder how Gloucs might cope. Six consecutive wins to start with, but then finished the group stage with consecutive defeats. Momentum lost.
Zampa confirmed as Oval's replacement for the 100 final, which I presume also means that he'll hang around thereafter to be one of Surrey's overseas players for their QF (and finals day if they get there).
Well, we're going to need another Abbott special with both bat and ball to save this one. I agree with commentators, another quiet over of 1s and 2s and then try to hit out to reach 235 to have about a 35% chance in the game.
Come on, like the T20 game, let's have a nice little beamer no-ball which goes for 4 (top edge over keeper) and a boundary off the free hit!
More than I was expecting when Mayes got out. Far, far less than we should have got with six overs to go. I think we only scored two boundaries off the final 25 balls. There did look to be some turn for the Middlesex spinners. So if we can keep them quiet in the PP - including a couple of wickets - then hopefully Dawson and Neal can have some joy. But we can't really afford Wheal or Jack to spray the ball around first. Need to keep it just as tight as their three did with the new ball.
