I wonder if the West Ham fans on kumb have changed their stance. When it seemed like they weren’t going to go above 30m and we apparently wanted 50m they were saying he wasn’t worth over 30m. Definitely not worth 40m. And lamenting their list of 30m midfielders that have not been very good
So if we get the signings we want, do you think we have a stronger team / squad than we had last time in championship? I have looked at the starting line up from the final against Leeds, compared to if we sign Azaz, Jander, Fellows and another winger, I’ve plumped for Scienza, with the German link etc. Subs: Downes, Archer, Stewart, Robinson, Bree, Quarshie, Woods, Wellington, Fraser, Armstrong, Seesay.
Possibly, but I think now the wingers, attacking midfielders are in that Still wanted, I feel the likes of Downs and Stewart could thrive with the service, and help with the system he wants to play?
The Strikers we have should match his goal return, but we definitely miss his pressing, passing and hold up play. Feel like Still would of loved to have him.
Assuming Azaz, Fellows and Jander do end up here, I`m really happy with this window. Saints are a provincial club, so our most valuable assets will always leave, if they want to. I like the model of selling big names for big money, and bringing in young players with potential, so long as they are properly scouted and are hungry. That model should be self-perpetuating. No point in having big names in the squad who have one eye on the exit. Based on what I`ve seen over the last year, I`d have Robinson in my team over Dibling every time.
I could be wrong ( again) but you need a bidding wars. I.e. Chelsea v Liverpool to get big fees. From what I’ve read only Everton were serious about Dibling and only West Ham were serious about Fernandes. So no bidding war. Get the best money for two players who were not on the bus, tram, tube, whatever.
Hope I’m wrong (and you!) but I kind of agree with this. That chance against Stoke should have been in. I know it was fizzed at him but wasn’t he inside the six yard box? All he had to do was fall on the ball and he’d have scored. A professional striker should be scoring those.
We haven't seen much of Stewart at all, I'll cut him and Downs a bit of slack before writing them off.
Fernandes can go **** himself. Alfie House has practically confirmed Fernandes went to West Ham without permission.
The model is not self perpetuating, we have shown that the past 10+ years. You do not get anywhere if constantly sell your best. You end up exactly where we are. There isn’t exactly much to get excited about as a fan either.
His ability isn't the issue - like ABK it's his attitude. Get him in the right frame of mind and he can be a beast - that performance against Man City was one of the best I've ever seen from a Saints CB.
I’m trying to remember the fond times where players were proud and excited to play for us as opposed to desperately trying to kick and claw their way out of the door as soon as they start playing well.
I would say stay with Saints. If Potter is sacked and a new manager comes in and doesn't want him then he doesn't play. Then there is the possibility of West Ham getting relegated. Personally, I think he would be better off staying, make a name for himself then leave for a better team than West Ham.
Plenty of fans seem content with us being Sport Republic player trading company (England) who cares about what happens on the pitch and winning games? The profit/loss table is way more exciting. That's what we all pay the money for.
It should be self-perpetuating if the recruitment is generally good. Ours hasn`t been in recent years.
