I'm baffled by the Simons links.

Frank was very clear after the Eze debacle that he only wants players who want Spurs.

So we go and bid £70m for a player who has had his eye on Chelsea for two months.

 

The only way to know whether he prefers us to Chelsea is to give him the option.
