Excellent win last night, and especially another very much improved performance. We are really starting to look the business now, and great to see the team selection's more settled. I think this is the key now. Change the team when someones' form dips, and make the occasional change to freshen up players, but keep the nucleus of the team the same. It now looks as if AVB has decided his best team, and I for one hopes he sticks with it, certainly for the big games. The midfield is looking heaps better, the defence less shaky , and chances up front keep coming. This doesn't mean the bench players can't get in, and if I have a criticism of AVB it is that he often leaves his substitutes too little time to impact on the game. Not much to criticise though when he's now getting this kind of a response from his players. Great to see Lamps go at it when he got his chance ,and what a beautifully taken penalty. Sturridge has blossomed with more starts, hopefully the other kids will do so too. Tough call for the manager when he's after consistency though, who'd be a coach ?? As for Man City, seriously impressive for 20 mins, but get pretty stroppy when you give it back to 'em. Could have lost at least one more to a red card. So very well done to all, I don't think we had a poor performance tonight, apart from a collective slow start.
Agreed - excellent turnaround in our fortunes and a great result - at last AVB has taken a top scalp. A few pointers: Sturridge had an outstanding game and AVB learned his defensive lesson the hard way; might be the way to go when playing against top opposition - even City struggled to find a way through when we defended in depth. City are still in the box seat but it will be interesting to see how they cope at the business end. Last note - AVB and the media......CHILL. The tabloids & punters are notorious for stirring it; like the WUMs on here they will keep at it for as long as they have an audience.....AVB needs to get over it BIG TIME.
When we hit the season's all time low, just before the Newcastle game, ABV decided to temporarily abandon his "high line" defense, strategy--for attacking football. We got the 3 points we desperately needed. He did the same against Valencia and again last night! I am nervously now waiting to see where we go from here! Will he now revert to this system --or stick with what we know works? In fact I've just realised I've more or less repeated what Liquidator has said!
Surely he'll stick now ??? It sure works better and we're playing pretty good football to boot. Sorry about the gaffers initials the wrong way round, we're all upside down here in Melbourne !!
Definitely looking up, lets hope we keep it up, the belief and confidence is back. Hopefully we can get a nice comfortable win and clean sheet v wigan to set us on our way for spurs away, next two games will show how good we really are,we need 6 points. And CP his initals are AVB if i'm not mistaken? I do notice you always write ABV though blue ? lol I'm confused now . I'm so glad AVB has got rid of this high line aswell and finally seen the error of his ways, it's ****ing stupid and pointless and helps no-one, he also seems to be getting the best out of everyone, i actually thought bosingwa done very very good yesterday and in my opinion not one person on the pitch for us had a bad game. Great performance, Great result, loved the players celebrations at the end aswell!! Come on chels !! KTBFFH
Bluemoon, so confused down here , still in shock at losing Test match to the bleeding K 1 W 1s !!!! Still, the win over City helped.
Read about that one in this mornings papers! Unfortunately we are a long way from the start of our season, so cricket here is on the back burner! It was a close run thing so it must have been very watchable as a neutral! Keep smiling--worse things happen at sea!
Whatever it is ,it doesn't trip off the tongue like Fettucinni A L'Amatriciana , or Harry Redknapp, Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Jose Mouhrino. Even Pep Guardiola is easier to say. Claudio Rainieri, now that's a name you can pronounce. Cloud eeo Rain Yeah ree. Roman Abravomich as well. Row man Are bram ovich. An dre Vill as Bo As, what kind of a name is that ?? Too many syllables for a start. Needs work
It's our Irish/ English heritage. Any word bigger than Vegemite ( 3 syllables ) is problematic Gefinley. That ,and the 31 years I spent ( voluntarily ) in Chelsea are the cause of my particular problems. Now Pon Ting, Lil lee, Thom O, Lam Pard. Drog Ba, Jo Se, Ter Ree , Cech, no worries. Just the big ones find me out. Had trouble with your name too !!
Have you ever tried "antedisestablishmentarianism"? Try practising it for 5 minutes every morning and 3 silly balls will be kids stuff before long!
That's probably because my name isn't meant to be said as one word. It's meant to be G E Finley, but I'm lazy and it's easier to type. Does confuse people, though, which is always fun. And I can see where the Irish would be an impediment. I could try to claim the same with Scottish, but most would blame it on me being Californian.
That's actually harder than "Keep the Blue Flag Fly-Ing ". However in order to improve Anglo / Australian relations, I will do as you say, practice every day, and return with a better vocabulary than ...........Clive James, Dame Edna and Rolf Harris combined. Does anyone drink at the Sporting Page ?? Top pub that, tres' genteel, where now .. down- at- heel survivors from the 60's in old clapped out Mercs are the main patrons. Watch them park with gay abandon. Single yellow lines? Nothing ! Double yellows, they've got at least 3 drinks before grief. Total 60's time warp, Reefer jackets ,cravats, de rigeur. Bollinger is the house Champagne, and Mouton Rothschild Claret the house red. Doesn't get better than that in Chelsea. God I miss my house in Cathcart Road. I could hear the roar when a goal went in. That said, its 25C and sunny tomorrow.
You are a bit of a wind up merchant CP! Ok we're down to 5C here at the moment, but we can handle it! Anyway, your saving grace is that you are a Blue --so you are forgiven(3 silly balls) for now! I know your old neck of the woods very well, but cant place Cathcart Rd. I'll look it up in my A-Z.
