Just watched Grimsby embarrass Man U. Oh dear. It wasn't a fluke either. Decent watch for the neutral.
£197million spent this summer.....but Man U still can't beat Grimsby.......makes Argyle's start to the season look quite brilliant.
It’s an interesting situation and the traditional answer is to sack the manager - but United have done that several times, no doubt at significant cost, without effect. Sir Jim Ratcliffe owns 25% of the club. He made his c. £30 billion by buying up distressed assets in the the chemicals and petrochemical sectors and turning them into profitable operations. I think Utd would rank as a distressed asset in its present condition. He is or has been involved in the British Americas Cup sailing team, the Team Ineos (nee Team Sky) Tour de France cycle racing team, the Mercedes F1 team and tried to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. If with his track record in business and the business of sport, he can’t turn United around, repeatedly sacking the manager is to be honest just p***ing into the wind.
Ruben Amorim has been manager for a reasonable time now.....and has recently spent a small fortune......and the end result at the moment is nowt. There are fans who will never forgive him for letting Radford move on......and the fans aren't too excited at what Ratcliffe has been doing regarding restructuring the club. 15th last season.....even below West Ham and Everton. Unable to beat Grimsby in 90 mins or over 23 penalties.....not very good against a Div Two club. Years back when the Americans bought the club and transferred the debt onto United's books there was a fans split and some formed a breakaway club that's not doing too badly......will it happen again soon ? Talk also of Amorim losing the dressing room might hasten his leaving soon.
Surely it was the previous guy that lost Rashford and was in post when the players they have had to dump were signed. But then, the days are over of a manager donning his sheepskin jacket and going out to sign players in a smoky snooker hall is over. They’re first team coaches now and it’s the Sporting Director and the data-miners who sign players.

Popped into the newsagents for a naughty bar of chocolate (raisin & biscuit Yorkie) and was waiting behind a little old lady.... quite short...slightly bent over and very slow in her actions.....she had finished paying....but it took quite awhile to put her purse back into her handbag and then pick up what she had bought......I stepped to one side to allow her plenty of room to walk towards the door.....I then noticed that she had left her walking stick behind and passed it to her.....I then paid for my bar of chocolate and proceeded towards the door.....she hadn't got that far yet....so I opened the door for her and she slowly went through it onto the pavement......I followed her out and got into my car and started eating my chocolate bar.....the little old lady had just shuffled past and then got into the car next to mine.....she could hardly see over the steering wheel....and then she powered off down the road....and I swear blind that you could have mistaken it as a car without a visible driver......the final comment is that it was a top of the range and large of course...Audi.......I have no idea how she reached the pedals and I hadn't noticed if it was a manual job or an automatic......but brooom brooom she had gone.
