Ive always had a soft spot for them because during that time they were the fly in the Newcastle soup.
This. I thought Sunderland fans were the only neutrals to not dislike Man Utd to be honest. Given what the alternative to their domination would have been in the middle 90's.
Never had a problem with Man Utd. Some cracking players, especially the class of 92. Best manager in history and of course they ****ed the mags.
I think we were, I remember when they won their first EPL title and people being happy for them. But I think the arrogance from their fans eroded a lot of that after a few years, coupled with how much they won from the mid 90s to 2013, I think people just got sick of them. Things like Man U fans turning up wearing Argentina shirts after Beckham got sent off for England, or "Fergie time". I think people just want to see them brought down a peg or two and have some humility.
