Sunderland welcome Brentford to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League Last time out Sunderland lost to Huddersfield and Brentford beat Bournemouth. New striker Marc Guiu opened his account to level for the Black Cats after Huddersfield took the lead from a well struck Leo Castledine volley. The cup tie finished 1-1 with the terriers going through 6-5 on penalties. Regis Le Bris is expected to revert to his preferred setup with Mukiele replacing injured Ballard for this Premier League fixture. Dan Ballard is expected to be out for 3 weeks with a groin injury. Brentford won 2-0 at Bournemoth in the league cup with a goal in each half from Fábio Carvalho (34') and Igor Thiago (65') despite Keith Andrews making 9 changes from Saturday. Record signing Dango Ouattara (£42.5m) scored on his debut as Brentford earned their first Premier League win of the season with a gritty performance against Aston Villa. Brentford are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Max Beier as a replacement for Wissa. New summer signing Jordan Henderson returns to the Stadium of Light with the Bees. Regis le Bris: "We spoke with Wilson early in the pre season about his versatility and the demands of the Premier League - we need different options," Le Bris said. "We need pace. We need starters and finishers. Wilson, if he can start as a nine, finish as a nine, start as an eleven, finish as an eleven, like he did this evening, I think it's a good option for the club." Presser on Friday 1:30 pm: Keith Andrews: “There’s probably been a narrative around the club in recent weeks and months, which I understand to a point because of the departures of staff and players. But people don’t realise what goes on on a day-to-day basis,” “We have a real togetherness and I am really pleased with a lot of the performances tonight,” Form: Match Appointments: Referee: Anthony Taylor Assistant Referee: Gary Beswick Assistant Referee: Adam Nunn Fourth Official: Robert Madley Video Assistant Referee: Darren England Additional Video Assistant Referee: Natalie Aspinall Team Lineups: Sunderland AFC: Roefe, Hume, Aldrete, Mukiele, Reinildo, Xhaka, Sadiki, Diarra, Talbi, Adingra, Mayenda. Roefs Hume Mukiele Alderete Reinildo Xhaka Le Fee Diarra Talbi Mayenda bench: Patterson Masuaku Seelt Neil Sadiki Roberts Rigg Isidor Guiu harsh on sadiki but feel like we need more creativity in the middle 2-1 the lads
After the highs of the opening day and the deflation at Burnley...followed by.a meh!! performance against Huddersfield, be interesting which Sunderland team turn up this Saturday. To keep the feel good factor a positive performance and hopefully 3 points against Brentford would be great... as been mentioned hope Le Fee starts
Cheers RTB. Think there's only one position to debate? Being Seelt or Mukilele? All about the fitness element for me but have a feeling Seelt will be given the nod. Keep it tight, give nowt away and let ELF come on to change it if we need a goal. Haway the Lads, 3 points would be huge.
Agreed, just believe it’ll be really tough on Saturday Some good players in that Brentford squad. Plenty pace up top too, tricky game
I'd much rather be playing this season's Brentford than the last ... ... and facing them with this season's Sunderland side. It evens things up and they seem to be in disarray at the moment so the window should help us ... ... if Le Bris can't get the better of Keith Andrews I'd be a little concerned tbh. This is a game where we should be brave, take a few risks and really go for the three points.
