His stats in the Championship are excellent so have no concerns about him this season. If we go up, he's completely unproven at PL level and we're spending a lot of money on him.
If we can get him tied down to a 4/5 yr deal it won't be an issue. His book value over the length of the contract would be manageable enough that a sale in 2026 (but more likely 2027) would easily be profitable. Assuming that 2027 is the midway point of his contract, then you'd need a fee of £7.5m or more to profit on his book value. And if we'd been promoted in that time, the revenue windfall would also justify the spend quite easily
Just went and checked and it wasn’t as long as I first thought. The only other Saint! Thread I’ve started where we actually signed the player was a revolutionary player for us, Maxwel Cornet I predict Azaz will be worse than him
I have warmed to the idea of Azaz having watched us play this season Clearly wasn’t 1st or even 2nd choice, and I have major reservations about him being able to cut it in the PL. But if he helps get us there then that’s a problem for another season. We need an AM who can link up the play, score goals and find the strikers and Azaz certainly can do that at this level.
