For £60m he needs to be hitting 19-20 goals a season. They have ****ed up big time and it looks like they are just wanting a body in that has scored in the PL. Never in a million years would any NUFC fan have said Larsen as our main striker but that's what we are going to get.
£65m for JSL. The price on strikers is mental. But then I looked at Outtara - almost £45m for him. He's a good little player, but £45m? And from Brentford?
okay but you know what I mean for that price he has got to be hitting late teens to early twenties goals a season
I know and that's why I said that they have screwed this up and are just looking to get a body in and hope it somehow all works out. Isak wont play for us again (nor that I want him too) and so Larsen is our main striker......which is just insane
I always maintained that if you swap Isak for, say, Larsen (15 GA) and Woltemade (18 GA) then the aggregate makes up for the loss, so that's how we have to look at it. The thing is we've just dicked about for far too long with all the Saudi posturing and delays, there's no decisiveness. Eales (yes, I know he's seriously ill) is completely absent. He's not conducting any meetings, it's been - by all accounts - Reuben and Solis, so it seems we've been without a CEO for arguably months which in itself explains a lot of things, but isn't really acceptable.
Pretty sure we could have Boniface and El Khannous for not much more than what we're being quoted for for JSL. FML !
Larsen is Wilson's replacement albeit an expensive one. Massive upgrade. Isak the snake - Looks like we are digging our heels in and keeping him. Should sign another striker then so that he is third choice. Can then review in January.
We’re going to end up with no proper striker for Leeds aren’t we? Another match of chances we can’t finish. Gonna be a horrid international break to go into if we lose.
Reuben and Solis are now directly involved in transfers hence why things have sped up recently. Should have been the position from the start given we knew our new CEO and Sporting Director weren't due to start until September at the earliest.
25 years old, 15 PL goals, JSL is a good player. It's the weird place Newcastle are in that confuses and the money stuff is reported far, far too much (but that's media for ya). Newcastle this season wanted to be a big boy, no more £30m risks, we've got the UCL, money, fewer PSR issues, let's go out and buy £60m players instead. The reality we've discovered is the other 6 can do this - and offer 50% higher wages. So there's a naivety about Newcastle. This Summer hasn't been quite the disaster apart from strikers (and I'll argue GK). Players like Ramsey and Thiaw seem ideal for us, slightly under the big 6 profile but right at the top of the rest. We haven't taken that into striker searching and, criminally, haven't spent anywhere near enough time abroad.
