Second half is probably the most in control we’ve looked so far, that was a lovely feeling. Can’t really have many complaints after that other than stop the damn back 5.
Well it was only an early cup tie with both sides playing weakened teams, but that's the closest we have seen to a good performance under Still, even if it was only for the second half. I wouldnt even go as far to say it was a step in the right direction, more of a shuffle.
Well at least we improved in the second half unlike Norwich. Good outcome in the end. Charles looks a good player.
A 3-0 win against a second-string Norwich side, but much needed all the same to start putting to bed the scars of last season. I’m still not convinced by the system. Downes looks like he’s struggling in it, and I wonder if that’s part of why we’ve seen shaky starts from Quarshie and, in particular, Edwards. Where the squad is this time next week will be telling. September is huge - Still has nearly two weeks to prepare for the derby, which could be a real springboard. By October 1st we’ll have eight league games behind us, and a much clearer picture of where we stand.
Plenty of interesting teams still in the draw - Cambridge, Port Vale, Doncaster, Reading (that would be fun - would get a big allocation), Wrexham, Bradford. So we'll inevitably get Man City away.
I thought Quarshie grew nicely into the game too. I still think his physical profile makes him someone we really want in the team (gradually).
