The club appealed because it wasn't black and white.
There was clearly communication / correspondence going on between City and Villa, and also with the EFL during this whole episode.
Yes, the club should have known better, and someone (or more) within the club should be responsible for understanding the rules and warning the owner accordingly (maybe there is and they did, but possibly not).
The Villa CFO didn't change his tune until the end of June. If there had been previous warnings they would have appeared in the document we've all just been reading (I assume others have bothered to actually read it all). There wasn't, so we can take it that Villa were fine with the situation up until late June when it sounds like we were trying to sign Barry permanently and so the landscape changed. The debts were then paid within days.
The EFL have to follow their written rules and as a result we've been hammered.
The club has been very naive and amatureish for sure. I don't think I've ever disputed that. The owner and relevant 'officers' of the club should never have allowed the club to get into this situation.
What I have disputed all along, and continue to dispute is the BS that's been posted on here and elsewhere like:
    - the owner has lost all interest (wrong)
    - the owner is skint (wrong)
    - the club is about to go bust / into administration (wrong)
    - we are about to be sold (wrong)
    - etc etc
I have been proved correct on all the above; the drama comments by some of you have been shown to be utter BS.
The cash flow planning for the football club has been lacking. That doesn't mean the owner is skint nor does it mean the club is bust. The proof of my views is that debts have been paid, the players continue to be paid, there's no fire sale, new players (some on big wages) continue to be recruited, money is spent on the ground, we continue to invest in the academy, etc etc.
As someone else posted above, it's imperative that the owner learns from this, makes sure he has the right people in the right roles to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. I think he will ensure all that is the case; I hope to hell that time shows I am right on that too.

It makes me laugh when people say ‘he deserves a second chance to make it right’.

This is more like his 14th chance following ****-up after ****-up.

Brady, Kalman, instead of such pathetic responses, how about actually commenting / critiquing what I've posted?
I can tell you why don't. Because what I've posted is the reality. Grow the **** up.

Whilst today’s minutes don’t prove any of this is correct, with the exception of the ‘losing interest’ point, none of this has been proved wrong either by the events of the summer .

We won’t know about any of our (or Acun’s) finances in full truth until either our accounts come out and we are/arent up **** street or the club is eventually sold and more about our costs come out in the wash.

The only issue you’ve got, is that your reality, differs from almost everyone else’s.

And your claims are not accurate.

The accounts won’t really tell us **** anyway, we’re borrowing via Acun Medya. We haven’t a clue how secure or sustainable that is, nobody on here has even the slightest idea. On the face of it, Acun has a huge chunk of his fortune tied up in the club, the club going bust would mean him losing a substantial amount of money.

But then, he has no real interests under UK regulation. It might be possible for him to pull the plug, sell everything and squeeze the club dry for every penny it can bleed. With him facing no real consequences for doing so.

That's the worst part for me. I was never convinced it was as bad as some made out because of stuff people in the game were saying about the way things work and Acun making it seem like a couple of small errors.

I always said if it was proven to be otherwise I would admit I was wrong, which I certainly will do now. Let's hope this has forced some positive actions and there are no more skeletons.

They wanted to make an example of us but we wouldn’t know that regardless of our behaviour . It’s not a perfect world and it’s easy to sit here calling f*** out of the owner because he or someone took a risk as money was either tight or lacking - he’s spun plates and got caught . When you look at the absolute cheating that Leicester , Forest and you could lump Everton with them have done they will only get limited punishment because they are ‘ names’ - the media love Everton and in the corridors of power they won’t get touched because they are ‘ a great historical ‘ untouchable institution - and they’re scousers .
    I’m not bitter at all
All this carping keeps going over the same points time and again . The club has f***d up but is still fighting and doing its best to compete .

Calling us "the other basket case along with Wednesday" is just OTT reactionary bollocks when you look at what's going on there. Nowhere near comparable

I don’t want Acun out, he’s a laugh. We’ve had owners in the past that were skint as well and it was fine.

You can’t demand an owner leaves just because we’re not spending loads. He’s Turkish; this is how they operate. Players and teams are constantly getting the rug pulled and reneging on deals in Turkey; he’s tried it on here and been caught out - we move on.

Unless the actual existence or core identity of the club is being threatened I won’t get too het up and pearl clutchy over it.

As far as I'm aware, there still isn't any explanation for the key issues at the heart of this:
    - Why the club couldn't meet its payment obligations for Louie Barry, but then could do almost immediately once it became a story
    - Why we then failed to make a payment for Fin Burns after our payment issues had become a story; and therefore:
    - How we can trust the club to consistently meet its obligations over the next year and beyond.

These are the most important questions for me, currently we have no real idea of the answers and we maybe never will. The accounts probably won't even tell us much. So there's probably always going to be this doubt hanging over the club under Acun that it could happen again.
